POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction and supervision of the Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director, the Senior Associate Athletics Director for NIL Operations will assist in leading the architecture of the institution's in-house Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) program, facets of NIL execution, revenue share modeling, and athlete brand enablement. This individual will work cross-functionally with coaches, student-athletes, legal, compliance, collectives, agents, and external partners to ensure that the university is at the forefront of NIL innovation. This role is responsible for developing institutional infrastructure to manage NIL deals, support contract negotiations, and expand third-party branding opportunities—while ensuring compliance, transparency, and athlete empowerment.

NIL Program Oversight

 • Lead the internal buildout and management of a centralized NIL operations model, reducing reliance on third-party platforms or external collectives.

 • Develop and implement institutional policies, processes, and staffing models to support in-house NIL operations.

 • Assist with all NIL matters and ensure alignment with state laws, NCAA and conference regulations, and institutional values.

 • Forecast NIL-related revenue and create budgeting frameworks for team-specific or athlete-specific NIL allocations.

Agent & Contract Management

 • Serve as a point of contact for agents, financial advisors, attorneys, and collectives representing student-athletes.

 • Oversee the review and advisory process for NIL contracts, including deliverables, compensation structure, and term compliance.

 • Develop educational workshops for athletes and families on contract literacy, taxes, and long-term financial planning.

Branding & Third-Party Engagement

 • Collaborate with the creative/media/marketing teams to develop athlete brand support initiatives, including custom campaigns, personal logos, merch, and social media growth.

 • Identify and activate new third-party partnerships—corporate sponsors, local businesses, digital platforms—that can deliver NIL opportunities at scale.

 • Help athletes position themselves as marketable brands within and beyond the university ecosystem.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration & Strategic Planning

 • Work closely with compliance, legal, development, and academic services to streamline athlete support.

 • Liaise with coaches, team personnel and general managers , and sport administrators to align NIL strategy with recruiting and roster management goals.

 • Represent the athletics department at campus, conference, and national working groups related to NIL.

 • Define methodologies to support senior-level strategic and operational decisions; Develop analytical approaches to transform information into thoughtful, actionable insights

Sport Administration

 • Direct and supervise assigned sport program(s) in all aspects, including the development, management, and review of operational activities and budget.

 • Understand program and department goals, and work with Head Coach and program leadership to achieve goals.

 • Articulate and execute program’s vision to constituents, campus and department staff.

 • Advise Director of Athletics on all program operations, including recruiting, equipment, uniforms and supplies.

 • Understand and assist in program personnel changes with Head Coach and leadership.

Sport Administration

 • Represent program interests on campus issues, as needed.

 • Ensure all aspects of program elements and student welfare issues are maintained for best possible competitive results.

 • Collaboratively ensure all staff adhere to department, university and state systems, controls and policies.

 • Manage and administer championships for assigned sport(s), including traveling with assigned team(s) to all postseason competitions

 • The DIA is governed by the NCAA, Big Ten Conference, Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and University of California System.  The incumbent is required to comply with the applicable rules, regulations and policies of those organizations.

    ◦ Review and retain all rules compliance disseminated by the DIA Compliance office.

    ◦ Report all NCAA and conference violations.

    ◦ Sign the annual NCAA Certification of Compliance form.

    ◦ Complete the Athletically-Related Income form annually.

    ◦ Comply with California State Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) Law and adhere to mandatory reporting guidelines.
