POSITION SUMMARY | The Web Experience Designer plays a vital role in shaping the online experience for our renowned research institute and school. The position works alongside a dedicated team to design and develop websites, web applications, and data visualizations that advance knowledge management, platform to improve user experience for our stakeholders and constituents. The Web Experience Designer is: ● A user champion: uses analytic tools to conduct user research, participate in usability testing, and analyze data to understand user needs and behaviors. Craft web experiences that meet user expectations. ● Collaborative: Partners with researchers and administrative staff to to translate sometimes complex information into engaging and accessible web experiences. Design visual interfaces, page layouts, and data visualizations that effectively communicate research findings. ● Inquisitive: Dive into website analytics to identify user journeys, pain points, and opportunities for improvement. Utilize data insights to inform design decisions and drive website optimization | | | |

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions | Function | Responsibilities | % Time | Develops and Administers Websites | • Designs simple user interfaces and user interface components. • Designs or re-designs webpages or architectures on WordPress using pre-existing website themes. • Improves discoverability of website content through the use of Yoast or similar plugin tools • Participates in user needs assessment and usability evaluations, may recruit participants for usability testing and may participate in user observation activities. • Gathers, analyzes, documents and organizes the results of usability evaluations. | 45% | User Needs Evaluation | • Reviews user data from Google Analytics and WordPress reporting tools to understand information sought, journeys, and user needs. • Reviews user and / or business requirements for web and data visualization projects.
