POSITION SUMMARY | Under the general supervision of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA) Women's Basketball Director of Operations and coaching staff, direct and supervise all UCLA Women's Basketball video operations. Ensure every practice, home game, and road game is filmed and uploaded. Prepare and break down all opponents' games, UCLA games, and practice film for use by the Head Coach and Assistant Coaches. Create and edit each opponent's plays and personnel before every game for the team to watch. Oversee scout film and make sure all opponents' games and UCLA games are downloaded from Synergy and available for the Coaching staff to review. Manage and maintain all the video equipment, computers, software, and work closely with Sports Code to continually update and upgrade the basketball program's video capabilities. Hire and supervise a staff of Video Interns as needed with the assistance of DOBO. Oversee all basketball-related activities during summer camps. Requires traveling with the team and attending every practice and home game. Evenings and weekend hours are required. | | | |
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions | Function | Responsibilities | % Time | Film,Editing, Breakdown and Creation | • Must code film according to the Head Coach’s specifications and make it available for each coach to watch in a timely manner. • Must be able to put a self-scout edit together based on the Head Coach’s specifications, including a catalogue of all offensive and defensive possessions, special situations, etc. Code/upload film ASAP post-game. • Prior to games, must watch at least five of the opponent's games and broken down every play & personnel clip and be able to sort this information for use with every scouting report. | 40% | Film,Editing, Breakdown and Creation | • Must put together an edit with all of the opposing teams plays and personnel for the Coaches to watch with the team. With the information obtained from breaking down film, must be able to develop a thorough understanding of the opponent's personnel and strategic tendencies. • Create Motivational/creative videos as needed/assigned by coaching staff | 0% | Filming of Practice, Home and Road Games | • Must maintain all video equipment including camera, tri-pod, laptops, dvd players, televisions, hard drives, etc. and work with video staff on set-up/ take down and maintain the necessary equipment to film each practice and game. • Review daily practice plan, ensure that drills and scrimmages are filmed as requested. Must prepare all equipment for travel and have the capability to film games on the road if needed. • Coordinate with home team VC for post-game exchange. • Once each practice or game is recorded, it must be downloaded to the server and made available for every coach in the basketball office. | 20% | Summer Camps | • Work closely with the Director of Operations to help organize the camp staff and create an efficient and fun camp schedule. • Oversee all basketball activities during camp and work closely with the camp coaches to provide a positive environment for campers. | 15% | Scout Film | • Make sure all opponents games are downloaded off of Synergy onto the main basketball server and available for scouting purposes. • Coordinate with Asst Coaches and video interns on which games they want for use on their scouts® • Stay ahead of scouting games in a timely fashion. • Hire and supervise video interns and make sure that their work is up to the standards expected for scouting film, passion play videos, recaps, etc. | 15% | Maintenance & Improvement of Video Equipment | • Must stay on top of new technology that can improve the work flow and efficiency of the program's video capabilities. • Work closely with Sports Code and other basketball software to make sure we are utilizing all the possible tools to stay on the cutting edge and help players with their knowledge of the game using video. | 5% | Rules Compliance | • Comply with all Federal, State, University and Department requirements established pursuant to Title IX, including the mandatory reporting requirements for a “Responsible Employee.” • The DIA is governed by the NCAA, Big Ten Conference, Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and University of California System.
