POSITION SUMMARY | Under the direct supervision of the Director of Administrative Services, the Optometry Services Manager provides managerial and technical oversight to Ashe U SEE LA Optometry. The Optometry Services Manager plans, manages, and monitors all operational, professional and clinical activities in the optometry department and has responsibility for oversight of all ordering of materials and merchandise including optical and sun eyeglass frames, spectacle lenses, contact lenses, over the counter medical and sundry products and all supplies and other needs for optometry. | | | |

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions | Function | Responsibilities | % Time | Supervisory Responsibilities | Supervisory responsibilities include recruiting and interviewing new optometry employees, overseeing their training, and managing performance evaluations—with supervision, evaluations, and terminations as needed. Additional duties involve maintaining staff schedules and records, organizing staff meetings, and fostering effective communication and teamwork. The role also requires managing the employee performance management plan, inspiring enthusiasm for the practice and patient care, and providing backup support, including assisting patients with selecting and dispensing frames, spectacle lenses, and contact lenses. Resolving patient concerns as they arise, and meeting with staff to evaluate progress, set vision, mission, and goals, and address personnel issues remain essential components. | 40% | Optometry Management | Optometry Management responsibilities include overseeing the appointment schedule and patient flow, implementing training and competence assessments, and establishing policies for ordering, receiving, and tracking materials. This encompasses maintaining accurate inventories and guiding opticians in product selection. The role also involves managing supplier and laboratory accounts, analyzing production statistics, monitoring recalls and pricing, and collaborating with Finance and Purchasing to secure favorable vendor relationships and manage invoices. Additionally, it requires overseeing office maintenance and security protocols, coordinating with SAIT on software enhancements, and providing regular reports to supervisors. | 40% | General and Specialized Clinical/Patient Care Functions | The position requires greeting patients with friendliness and sensitivity, and communicating clearly both orally and in writing. The role also involves monitoring overall patient-clinic flow to support smooth operations, adhering strictly to guidelines for the treatment of confidential information and medical records according to established chart entry protocols.
