POSITION SUMMARY

The Product Owner, Procure to Pay IT Products will play a critical role in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Procure to Pay Products and services, through creating and supporting a product vision, roadmap, and backlog, while also ensuring that they align with the university's strategic objectives and meet the evolving needs of UCLA's students, faculty, and staff. They will partner on strategizing the sunsetting and archiving the Legacy Procure to Pay system. The Product Owner, Procure to Pay IT Products will conduct customer research and collaborate with business owners and key stakeholders across the university campus to develop and convey a distinct product vision. The Procure to Pay IT Products Product Owner will be responsible for driving innovation and excellence by working closely with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and users to define requirements, prioritize features, and deliver exceptional value.

 

The Product Owner, Procure to Pay IT Products will positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by enabling University stakeholders to effectively leverage Procure to Pay products and applications. This team member will advance the University's mission by delivering exceptional information technology services

comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students. This role will execute UCLA's vision while

modeling UCLA's culture and values.

 


Department Summary

The Business Information Technology (BIT) team is dedicated to designing, developing, configuring, enhancing, optimizing, and maintaining innovative products and platforms that enable UCLA’s core business functions, including Web Technologies, Budget & Financial Management, Human Resources Information, Customer Relationship Management, and Collaboration, Productivity, & Workplace Products.  In partnership with administrative stakeholders, BIT ensures that its solutions deliver exceptional functionality, quality, business value, user experience, and digital accessibility, meeting the diverse needs and expectations of the campus community.  The BIT team drives ITS' cloud-first strategy by reducing technical debt, leveraging cutting-edge techniques, partnering with other departments and teams to accelerate releases through advanced automation and application lifecycle management, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation to ensure scalable, flexible solutions that meet UCLA's evolving demands.

 

The Budget & Financial Management Products team conceives, configures, monitors, defines, tests, delivers, optimizes, and refines budget & financial management products and application technologies, including but not limited to the Financial System (FS) General Ledger Applications, financial ERP, and procure to pay products. This team also focuses on optimizing user experience, addressing digital accessibility needs, partnering with cross-functional delivery teams to ensure products meet business and user requirements, and collaborating with business stakeholders to iteratively improve the products over time.

1. Leads the planning, execution, and delivery of Procure to Pay product releases, working closely with development teams to define user stories, prioritize the product backlog, and ensure that the development work aligns with the business objectives. Defines product strategy, processes, and approaches to deliver a broad range of Procure to Pay products (e.g., Jaggaer, Concur). Participates in research to gain insights into user pain points, challenges, and needs, and builds and delivers solutions that meet new requirements and expectations.

2. Makes decisions related to the development process, prioritization of features, and ensuring that the team is delivering value in line with business goals.

Product Management

1. Identifies, organizes, and leads discussions with key advisory groups and other customers, clarifying requirements, and ensuring that the team is building what is needed. Leads the identification of additional opportunities for value added product / service delivery based on customer / advisory group interaction and feedback as the voice of the customer

2. Oversees product release processes, coordinating with development, infrastructure, and customer success to ensure minimal disruption to end users.

3. May be assigned to one or more product categories (Procurement, Accounts Payable, Supplier Management, Expense Management, Bank Reconciliation).

4. Product Lifecycle - vendor management, guiding products through their lifecycle from conception to retirement, while fostering partnerships.

3. Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to Procure to Pay products.

4. Leads efforts in evaluating new financial management technologies and industry trends as they emerge and determine if and how they are applicable to current financial management products or services.
