POSITION SUMMARY | The Director of Development reports directly to the Executive Director of Development and indirectly to CAP UCLA Executive and Artistic Director and is responsible for all activity related to CAP's fundraising, special events and donor/volunteer programs. The Director of Development will play a vital role in expanding the pipeline of institutional supporters that will pave the way for the Center's vision of the future, including robust funding for its annual season programming and other capital/naming/endowment building fundraising campaigns as appropriate. S/he will manage and oversee the Associate Director of Development, who is responsible for planning, expanding and executing the Center's fundraising efforts with institutional donors, and supporting cultivation and solicitation of individual donors with giving levels up to $10,000 annually. The Director of Development will also oversee and supervise the Development Assistant. Primary Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for creating, tailoring and activating short-and long-term plans and robust strategies for individual and foundation fundraising, with particular emphasis on the expansion of an individual major gift effort aimed at achieving those objectives. These efforts will focus primarily on donations up to $100K and will partner with the Executive Director of Development for gifts exceeding $100K. Director of Development will frequently interact with the Executive Producer Council, and other volunteer groups like the Design for Sharing, annual donors, and other high level members, working in concert with CAP senior leadership and the Director of Marketing and Communications, to develop and implement a service-oriented donor/patron program. The Director of Development shall also support the Executive and Artistic Director with the interchange between the department and the academic units within the School of the Arts and Architecture and any specific fundraising goals that arise from those collaborations. The incumbent will manage a major gift prospect portfolio with goals for solicitation, engagement and dollars raised and will also oversee the preparation of all aspects of grant applications and proposals and ensures timely reporting as appropriate. Building and expanding this portfolio, including exploring and qualifying new prospects and donors, will be a major part of the responsibility.
