SUPERVISION - Indicates that the incumbent performs a variety of routine duties within established policies and procedures or by referral to the supervisor’s guidelines.


POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Director of Rehabilitation and Director Sports Medicine, coordinate and deliver physical therapy and rehabilitation services to student-athletes with primary focus on Football. Evaluate and treat acute, chronic, and postsurgical cases. Responsible for oversight of Football and other sports as assigned of all rehabilitation efforts, procurement and development of post-surgical protocol, liaise with surgeons on matters of concern and development of department philosophy/direction as it pertains to rehabilitation in consultation with the Director of Rehabilitation, Team Physicians, Team Athletic Trainer(s) and Director of Sports Medicine. Will hold administrative responsibilities as assigned. As a dual credentialed professional(PT/ATC), would also provide services as a certified athletic trainer at the direction of the Director of Sports Medicine.

 • Coordinate & deliver physical therapy & rehabilitation services to student-athletes including, but not limited to, evaluation and treatment of acute, chronic, and post-surgical care

 • Oversee the management of post-operative clinical care for student-athletes

 • Provides oversight and direction in consultation with staff athletic trainers for ongoing rehabilitation of student-athletes. Nurture & expand individual staff member's skill in rehabilitation

 • Provide athletic training services: athletic injury prevention, evaluation, treatment & rehabilitation to student-athletes & assigned teams

 • Perform all administrative duties associated with athletic training services including: injury/treatment/rehabilitation documentation, coach reports, supervisor reports & appropriate referral to physicians

Supervision & Training

 • Supervises the clinical care provided by athletic training staff, related to the care of student-athletes both operative and non-operative with specific emphasis on the Return to Play phases of rehabilitation

 • Supervises development and implementation of therapeutic interventions, clinical care and other rehabilitation services for all athletic training staff

 • Assists with clinical orientation and training for all new sports medicine staff

 • Supervises and in coordination with performance department staff and athletic training staff in the training and application of department functional movement assessment program and all equipment and technology associated with these programs

 • Maintains up to date post-surgical rehabilitation protocol via communication with surgeons and literature review

 • Maintains necessary units of continuing education per requirements for NATA and APTA

 • Supervision of Interns at all levels, with specific focus to those doing rehabilitation rotations and physical therapy students when required

Other Duties

 • Support clinical research efforts within the department, in collaboration with Director of Rehabilitation and team physicians

 • Assist in procurement of meeting room and speakers as necessary for continuing education of Sports Medicine Staff

    ◦ Sign the annual NCAA Certification of Compliance form.

    ◦ Complete the Athletically Related Income form annually.

    ◦ Comply with California State Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) Law and adhere to mandatory reporting guidelines.
