POSITION SUMMARY

Perform a wide range of skilled and semi-skilled duties designed to maintain and preserve the health and beauty of the campus landscape and hardscape.

At UCLA Facilities Management, we strive to “Be the Preferred Provider.” Join the team responsible for maintaining the 419-acre campus renowned as one of the most beautiful campuses in California with expansive lawns, brick-lined walkways, courtyards, plazas, gardens and athletic fields. As a team member, you will be responsible for providing a variety of outdoor maintenance services that helps maintain and preserve the health and beauty of the campus.

Maintenance Tasks

1. Perform daily maintenance and inspection of trees, plants, lawn and hardscape. Irrigate, prune, fertilize, mow, edge, trim and cultivate, using various power and hand tools. Identify plant pests and diseases and report to supervisor. (E)  2. Maintain all areas adjacent to landscaped areas by sweeping and hosing  off debris, emptying trash containers, etc. (E)

1. Maintain accurate hours worked on each job and special events. (E)  2. Operate and maintain a variety of power and/or hand tools, vehicles and equipment related to job function. (E)  3. Ensure and transport materials, equipment and personnel to and from job site expeditiously. (E)  4. Follow established safety procedures at all times including inspecting vehicles, tools and equipment for signs of damage, malfunction or deterioration on a regular basis. Report all problems to supervisor. (E)  5. Upon completion of work, clean up job site and return and secure equipment materials, tools, radios and Kronos wands in designated storage areas. (E)  6. Respond to off-hour emergencies and overtime and special events as required. (E)  7. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as requested by supervisor. (E)

Must possess California Driver's License, Class C, and ability to drive a University truck or other light vehicle in the course of duties.

Broad knowledge in the identification and care of commonly used landscape plants and turf grass.

Experience and working knowledge of proper methods in pruning shrubs, mowing/edging lawns and cultivating plants.

Ability to maintain and safely operate power driven equipment, e.g., mower, edger, trimmer, shears, generator, renovator and aerifier, as well as various hand tools.
