POSITION SUMMARY | Under the direction of a Sergeant, the Security Guard is responsible for the safety and security of the location for which they are assigned, patrolling areas and contacting appropriate emergency personnel via radio in the event of observed criminal, suspicious, or emergency circumstances. Acting as a liaison with the University of California, Los Angeles Police Department, Fire Department and other emergency departments, the Security Guard performs routine tasks such as perimeter checks, completes daily shift reports and prepares incident reports as necessary. Assigned duties are both general and shift specific, and must be prioritized and conducted according to departmental guidelines and policies and procedures, with additional assignments established by supervisors on an as needed basis Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays. Patrol designated areas and radio or phone UCPD Dispatch to advise of suspicious or criminal activity, or life-threatening circumstances. (E) 2. Serve as a communication link between the campus community and University Police, fire, and medical personnel. (E) 3. Provide safety and security to the UCLA community including students, staff, faculty, and visitors by deterring crime. (E) 4. Proactively monitor alarm and television systems (E) 5. Operate and monitor two-way radio to communicate with police officers and other personnel. (E) 6. Complete all logs, as required, for each shift worked. (E) 7. Monitor and respond to emails daily. (E) 8. Question and/or escort unauthorized persons found on property. (E) 9. Prepare incident reports for the immediate supervisor (E) 10. Respond to reports of malfunctioning equipment, determine necessary course of action to maintain operation of affected unit(s) and reports issues to supervisor. (E) 11. Participate in regular drills and practice sessions for fire, earthquake, evacuation, first aid/CPR/AED and other emergency situations. (E) 12. Emergency Responder: respond to all emergencies within the assigned area(s) including but not limited to medical, fire, earthquake, disturbances, and threats as they occur, according to established protocols, or as appropriate. (E) 13. Assist in the supervision of evacuations, search and rescue operations in the event of an actual emergency; maintain order among the public and UCLA staff. (E) 14.
