SUPERVISION - Indicates that the incumbent performs a variety of routine duties within established policies and procedures or by referral to the supervisor’s guidelines.


POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor, the Security Ambassador is responsible for the safety and security, of the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge (LAL), team members, and physical assets. Incumbent acts as a liaison with UCLA Administration, San Bernardino County Sheriff, and County and/or Cal Fire Department and other emergency departments. The Security Ambassador performs routine tasks such as perimeter checks and completes daily shift reports. Incumbent also completes incident reports as necessary. Security Ambassador serves to meet the needs and requests for guests, as needed. Must be able to work nights, weekends and some holidays.


Department Summary

UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge is a unique Southern California meeting and retreat venue. Located high in the pine-studded San Bernardino Mountains on the tranquil shores of Lake Arrowhead, our 50-acre lodge provides meeting space and accommodations for groups from September through mid-June. During the summer, Bruins Woods Family Camp program runs for ten consecutive weeks, with up to 80 families attending each week.

Security and Safety

 • Identify situations where security violations have occurred and take reasonable and prudent action to ensure the safety of employees, visitors, and guests.

 • Perform scheduled and random inspection of LAL physical premises to observe and identify potential security and safety risks or undesirable conditions; observe, caution, instruct, correct, investigate, and report persons or incidents involving suspected break-ins, tampering, vandalism, thefts, or property damage.

 • Admits or denies access as directed by the Facilities Supervisor or senior management team.

 • Provide immediate response to all emergencies, including but not limited to structural and brush fires, medical emergencies, confined space rescue, and undesirable conduct; assist until proper authorities arrive. Document and report any irregularity, incident, or emergency actions concerning safety and security.

 • Question and remove unauthorized persons found on the property.

 • Inform and enforce operating hours of main lodge and meeting spaces, a crucial part of maintaining order and security. Assist in nightly lock up of main lodge, LACC vehicles, storage, and program areas.

 • Identify situations where there are safety concerns and take reasonable and prudent action to ensure the safety of employees, visitors, and guests. This includes but is not limited to, shoveling snow and placing ice melt in pathways, etc.

Surveillance

 • Responsible for nightly security reports detailing areas walked through the night, if any noise or commotion occurs, and taking appropriate action to serve and assist guests and staff.

 • Respond to reports of malfunctioning access control equipment and determine the necessary course of action to maintain the operation of the affected unit(s).

 • Ensures that LAL's policies and procedures are communicated and upheld effectively.

Loss Prevention

 • Observe and report security hazards and suspicious activity to the facilities supervisor or senior management to protect property assets from internal and external theft.

 • Monitor and report individuals suspected of theft.

 • Interface with San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department and other local law enforcement and security agencies as necessary.

 • Prepare incident reports and distribute them to management and appropriate LAL personnel.

Other

 • Assist guests with their luggage as needed.

 • Resolve projects and assignments quickly and accurately while managing frequent interruptions and changing requests from senior management.

 • Respond to reports of malfunctioning equipment and determine the necessary course of action to maintain the operation of the affected unit(s).

 • In partnership with the Front Desk, respond to guests' needs.

 • Transport guests through the property as needed.
