POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Portfolio Security Operations Manager, ensure a safe and secure environment. Patrol assigned areas, and contact the appropriate emergency personnel via radio in the event of observed criminal, suspicious, or emergency circumstances.

 

Employee acts as a liaison with the University of California, Los Angeles Police Department, Fire Department and other emergency departments. Performs routine tasks such as perimeter checks and completes daily shift reports. Employee also completes incident reports as necessary.

 


Department Summary

The UCLA Asset Management Department provides full-service property management for University-owned buildings in Los Angeles County (estimated over 2.1 Million SF, occupied by 150 primarily University tenants and generating $60M of annual revenue), plus limited-service property management to 90 other University-owned properties.

Patrol designated areas and radioing the police dispatch center to advise of suspicious or criminal activity, or life-threatening circumstances. Serve as a communication link between the Downtown L.A. campus community and Police, fire, and medical personnel.  Provide safety and security to the community including students, staff, faculty, tenants and visitors by deterring crime.  Proactively monitor alarm and television systems.   Operate and monitor two-way radio to communicate with Building Coordinators and other personnel.  Complete all logs, as required, for each shift worked.  Monitor and respond to emails daily.  Question and/or escort unauthorized persons found on property.  Prepare incident reports to their immediate supervisor  Respond to reports of malfunctioning equipment, determine necessary course of action to maintain operation of affected unit(s) and reports issues to supervisor.  Participate in regular drills and practice sessions for fire, earthquake, evacuation, first aid/CPR/AED and other emergency situations.  Emergency Responder: respond to all emergencies within the assigned area(s) including but not limited to medical, fire, earthquake, disturbances, and threats as they occur.  Assist in the supervision of evacuations, search and rescue operations in the event of an actual emergency; maintain order among the public and UCLA staff.  Attend required training in emergency preparedness.  All other emergency preparation duties as assigned.  Perform other duties as required and assigned.

Work mandatory assigned shifts in emergencies. Flexibility to work overtime in multiple locations.  Provide Portfolio coverage on all UCLA Asset Management buildings, as needed.  Attend scheduled general meetings of all security employees.
