POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Lead Director and Director, work cooperatively with the classroom teaching team to coordinate the child care program in one classroom for children two months to five years old, and their parents.  Maintain program quality, adhering to Title 22 and Title 5 regulations, and accreditation standards for the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Complete children's assessments using Desired Results Developmental Progress (DRDP) and other online assessment tools. Maintain a healthy indoor and outdoor environment. Work cooperatively with parents and with supervisory staff to coordinate child care program.  Act quickly and appropriately in hazardous situations, providing first aid in emergencies.

ʉۢ Work eight hours daily, collaborating with teaching team to initiate, plan and implement program for children.

ʉۢ Collaborate with teaching team to set up appropriate activities daily in curriculum areas such as language arts, dramatic play, multicultural awareness, DEI, manipulative toys, arts and crafts, block play, motor skills, problem solving, science, nutrition and outdoor play.

ʉۢ Collaborate with teaching team to plan and carry out a developmentally appropriate daily schedule that includes times for indoor and outdoor play, rest, toileting, eating, problem solving and nurturing.

ʉۢ Make written classroom plans available to staff, parents and other authorized participants, such as the Plan of Possibilities and Newsletters.

 â€¢ Support on-the-job training and orientation for classroom personnel. 

ʉۢ Collaborate with teaching team to maintain a safe and healthy indoor and outdoor environment for children and participating adults within guidelines established by State licensing and Title V regulations.

ʉۢ Supporting opening and closing routines each day and support clean-up and transition routines for changing activities throughout the day.

ʉۢ Administer CPR and first aid to injured or ill children.

ʉۢ Assist children in cleaning themselves; bathe/diaper infants and older infants when appropriate.

ʉۢ Establish an effective and cooperative relationship with parents of children in the group, welcome and orient parents of children who are new to the group; assist these parents and children in the separation process and interact daily with parents; give brief reports of child's experience in pertinent areas.

ʉۢ Hold impromptu conferences at parents' request when appropriate.

ʉۢ Prepare written reports of parent conferences, prepare written and online reports of child observations and prepare written evaluations of each child's development and progress prior to parent conferences. Observe and document children with developmental delays and challenging behavior, work with the administrative and teaching teams to provide support in the assessment process and implementation of strategies.
