POSITION SUMMARY

Provide research support and act as study coordinator for the UCLA Addictions Research Laboratory. The lab assistant II will contribute to clinical laboratory studies of addiction. Responsibilities include subject recruitment, screening and retention with a community sample of research participants, coordinating organizational aspects of the study such as data entry, and coordinating regulatory aspects of the study protocol. Additionally, the lab assistant II will train and supervise undergraduate research assistants.

With a distinguished faculty comprising more than 60 ladder rank members, it is one of the nation's top psychology departments. Its undergraduate program is the largest within the Division of Life Sciences and the UCLA College, with more than 4,700 undergraduate students enrolled across three majors: Psychology, Psychobiology, and Cognitive Science. The department also offers a comprehensive Ph.D. program with eight areas of study to approximately 200 enrolled graduate students.

Direct Data Collection with Human Subjects and Data Entry

A1.Coordinate recruitment and enrollment efforts (manage participant responses on online surveys, conduct phone screen interviews, communicate with CTRC staff and study physicians to schedule medical screening visits, work directly with advertisement vendors, and assist in determining participant eligibility with study physician.) Work directly with study participants (schedule visits, obtain consent, administer questionnaires and structured interviews, collect biological specimens such as saliva and urine, provide compensation) (E)  A3. Prepare and organize research materials. (E)  A4. Conduct and/or oversee data entry, database integrity, and data cleaning activities. (E)  A5. Report to principal investigator on study progress during weekly staff meetings. (E)

B1. Work with undergraduate and graduate students, and other staff to communicate needs of the lab and ensure appropriate coverage of tasks. (E)  B2.
