POSITION SUMMARY

As part of UCLA's Office of Foundation Relations & Corporate Philanthropy (FRCP), your work as our FRCP Prospect Research Associate will make a significant impact in partnering with external organizations to develop philanthropic collaborations that advance UCLA's shared goals for research, education and services. Working collaboratively with FRCP's frontline fundraisers and UCLA's leadership, faculty, and staff, you will research and identify philanthropic support for robust partnerships across campus that align with UCLA's goals and mission. As our FRCP Prospect Research Associate, you will bring your high level of prospect research, strategy, knowledge and expertise to help us create relationships and expand support of our base of private foundation and corporate philanthropic funders. As the Prospect Research Associate you will utilize knowledge of prospect research methodologies, sources and results to identify, assess and prioritize prospective private foundation and philanthropic corporate donors. You will analyze foundation and corporate giving trends and provide customized research and information to aid in the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of foundation and corporate donors. Prospect Research

1. Collaboratively, provide strategic partnership on fundraising priorities, campus initiatives, FRCP/campus-wide projects/ processes of medium sized scope, impact/level of complexity.

 

2. Provide FRCP Directors with prospect research, research profiles, briefing memos, speaking points, and recommendations for methods of engagement to advance funding partnerships.

 

3. Develop/direct processes that reflect best practices/evolving industry trends; ensure highest levels of quality in UCLA’s engagement specific to private funding entities, from prospect identification and cultivation to solicitation and stewardship.

4. Collaboratively represent FRCP to liaise with the Office of Research and Creative Activities to improve limited submissions processes, distribute announcements/promote competitive awards for UCLA, and share opportunities for faculty award nominations. 

 

5. Collaboratively represent FRCP to work with other teams to ensure accuracy of our team’s foundation and corporate donors and prospects, update records as needed, enhanced coordination of data management, analysis, and reporting, and contributing best practices for FRCP prospect management.

 

6. Collaboratively represent FRCP to liaise with External Affair’s Central Prospect Research team to coordinate strategies, resources, and ensure processes conform to UCLA standards for prospect research, profiles and briefings.

7. Serve as prospect research expert on foundations and corporate philanthropy; share (through mass communications, trainings, and meetings), deep/broad knowledge of institutional funders, philanthropic landscape, and industry trends and developments as relevant to UCLA.

Strategic and Operational Fundraising Analysis

1. Perform strategic positioning analysis by prioritizing prospect cultivation and solicitation based on research findings to achieve strategic and operational fundraising goals.

 

2. Based on research findings and input from FRCP fundraisers, collaborate on creating tactical solicitation plans that target optimal giving amounts; match UCLA areas of interest to prospect and identify optimal timing for solicitation.

 

3. Organize and participate in prospect review meetings and development of fundraising strategies.
