POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Title IX Director, the Intake Specialist assists in the administration, reception, and processing of incoming complaints of gender discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual violence and other discriminatory conduct. These responsibilities include: conducting intakes, accurately and thoroughly responding to inquiries and providing information related to relevant policies and procedures; receiving complaints; conducting outreach; assisting in conducting a preliminary assessment of complaints to help determine whether the concerns fall under Title IX jurisdiction purview, including gathering preliminary information from Complainant and/or relevant parties and ascertaining whether interim measures may be needed; recommending appropriate next steps after conducting a preliminary assessment; drafting appropriate correspondence and documentation related to complaints; assisting in identifying, developing and integrating best practices and procedures into the complaint and resolution process; interfacing and coordinating with other campus offices as necessary to achieve the office's objectives; assist in managing the case management system and preparing statistical reports; conducting legal and factual research and analysis in areas related to investigation, discrimination, and harassment; and assisting with other tasks and duties as assigned by the Title IX Director.

ʉۢ Exercises independent judgment in the intake of reports, assessment and resolution of complaints of Title IX prohibited conduct and other types of discrimination, harassment and bias, keeping the Title IX Director and other appropriate administrative officials informed as needed.

ʉۢ Provides impartial consultation, problem solving, and options for problem resolution regarding discrimination issues to members of the UCLA community.

ʉۢ Accurately and thoroughly responds to inquiries from members of the UCLA community and provides information related to relevant policies and procedures.

ʉۢ Facilitates the assessment of alternative resolution of complaints of discrimination or harassment, where appropriate.

ʉۢ Performs thorough, fair, and impartial intake and preliminary assessment of complaints, with an ability to gather relevant information necessary to provide recommendations for assignment of complaints for referral, closure, further inquiry and assignment for formal investigation.

ʉۢ Drafts relevant correspondence in the course of complaint processing.

ʉۢ Collaborates with other campus offices (e.g., Discrimination Prevention Office, Employee and Labor Relations, etc.) regarding responding to, investigating and resolving issues of discrimination, harassment and retaliation.

ʉۢ Keeps appropriate records and maintains the confidentiality of all reports and complaints in accordance with Title IX case management procedures, UC policy, and applicable laws related to record retention.

ʉۢ Performs other duties as assigned, such as but not limited to providing Title IX trainings to the campus and UCLA Health community, assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of the file management system and Title IX website.
