• Work with Geffen Academy leadership to design a school-wide approach towards social emotional learning. • Provide training and professional development related to mental health and social emotional learning to help support students with a variety of social and emotional issues. • Collaborate with the Dean of Students team,, and classroom educators on the implementation of behavior intervention plans. • Collaborate with the Learning Specialist team to address students' behavioral needs as and when they co-exist with academic learning support plans • Timely responsiveness to internal communication • Work with individual and small groups of students to plan and implement counseling sessions based on students' needs. • Provide student crisis management interventions as needed. • Periodically plan after school or evening workshops and community events to engage with and provide support to our families. • Develop and implement school, student and educator protocols and processes as needed in coordination with Geffen Academy risk management liaisons. • Communicate, coordinate, and collaborate with behavioral health specialists on developing and implementing student supports. • Make recommendations for external professional support on an as needed basis. • Build positive relationships within the school community. • Maintain confidential student records and keep accurate documentation of services provided to students, parents and educators. • Be up-to-date on current research and best practice in student counseling/guidance • Maintain student records and follow confidentiality and record management policies and procedures as directed by the school Handbook and Department of Education requirements. Develop a program continuity plan that would be implemented when unavailable. • Collaborate and effectively communicate with various stakeholders in the school community, notably; the Division Directors, Chief Administrative Officer, Dean of Faculty, Learning Specialist' team, Dean of Students, School Nurse, Wellness Team, and others as needed and directed. • At the direction of the Head of School or designee, develop partnerships, relationships and processes with UCLA departments and key experts in related fields. |
