POSITION SUMMARY

Do you want to make a difference by creating opportunity for students, enabling outstanding faculty research, and supporting programs that benefit UCLA and the broader community? As Senior Director, Leadership and Annual Giving, you will be a key partner in the fundraising and success of the Anderson School of Management. Reporting to the Sr. Executive Director, Development, you are responsible for the design and management of the school's annual giving program. You will lead a dedicated team of annual giving staff and student worker(s). You will have the resources to excel in a supportive environment that offers long-term opportunities for personal and professional development as part of a robust External Affairs enterprise serving UCLA.

 

UCLA Anderson's robust annual giving program includes mass solicitations, reunion fundraising, leadership annual giving and Dean's Society, student giving, and a variety of giving strategies such as Giving Day(s). As Senior Director, you will coordinate the creation and deployment of all appeals across channels and audiences, ensuring alignment with broader fundraising goals. You will recruit, train, and manage volunteer ambassadors to amplify outreach efforts for various campaigns as needed.

 

As a member of our management and fundraising team, you will be responsible for raising annual fund gifts from alumni and friends of UCLA Anderson. You will manage a portfolio and directly raise gifts with individual donors, and you will develop and manage process to upgrade donor giving levels, including moving donors into the major gift category. You will guide and grow the leadership giving society and partner with the Sr. Director, Stewardship and Development Operations to ensure appropriate acknowledgement and communication for Dean's Society members and annual giving donors overall. You will also partner with the Anderson Alumni Network Board of Directors and Centers to enhance philanthropic support.

 

Reports to the Sr. Executive Director, Development. Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

Annual and Reunion Giving

1. Design and implement appropriate strategies for strengthening and maximizing all Anderson Fund giving levels and participation. Work closely with the annual giving team to develop strategies for long-term growth of the Anderson Fund, Affiliates and Reunion programs; prepare an annual operating plan, monthly reports, and budget to achieve specific goals.

 

2. Manage all mass solicitations, including direct mail and email appeals. Coordinate school appeals with UCLA Central Development office to guarantee effectiveness and appropriate application of materials.

 

3. Collaborate with Central Annual Giving to develop and implement strategies and solicitations for Giving Day(s). Coordinate the creation and deployment of all appeals across channels and audiences, ensuring alignment with broader fundraising goals. Recruit, train, and manage volunteer ambassadors to amplify outreach efforts. Oversee timelines, content development, and performance tracking to optimize engagement and donor participation.  

 

4. Oversee the identification, recruitment and management of annual giving volunteers.

 

5. Manage annual giving team to ensure coordination and efficiency of annual giving efforts.

 

6. Work closely with the Assistant Director, Student & Affinity Giving to design, implement, and monitor the Anderson Affiliates campaign (a giving program for members of the graduating full-time MBA, FEMBA, and EMBA classes), and develop strategies for deepening affinity-based alumni engagement and giving, with a focus on graduates of the last five years.

 

7. Work closely with the Assistant Director, Reunion Giving to maximize participation and giving among relevant reunion classes and achieve reunion goals.

 

8. Work with Director of Stewardship to provide proper and timely stewardship, acknowledgement and recognition of annual giving donors, and to ensure accuracy of giving records.

 

9. Oversee the annual giving websites and online giving. Promote annual giving via Anderson articles, University publications and website. Coordinate with relevant campaign communications.

 

10. Working with the major gifts team, ensure that major donor prospects who contribute to the Anderson Fund are appropriately solicited for their annual gifts.

Leadership Annual Giving Officer

1. Personally identify, cultivate, and solicit leadership giving prospects. Interact with prospects through visits, phone calls, or written correspondence.

 

2. Meet or exceed UCLA Metrics for contacts, visits, solicitations, and closed gifts on an annual basis.

 

3. Accompany Dean, select faculty members, and volunteer leaders on donor visits or solicitations as needed.

 

4. Grow leadership giving pool and identify major gift donors.

Manage the Dean's Society

1. Design, implement, and coordinate the Anderson Fund Dean's Society campaign (gifts of $2,500 and above).

 

2. Work closely with Associate Director, Leadership Annual Giving to meet and exceed Dean’s Society-related metrics and ensure its growth and value among our donors.

 

3. In partnership with Associate Director, Leadership Annual Giving, design and implement appropriate strategies for re-enlisting lapsed members, maximizing the level of their annual contributions.

 

4. Prepare all marketing materials needed for the cultivation and solicitation of Dean's Society prospects, partnering with Anderson’s Marketing Communications staff as needed. Prepare all written material needed for donor acquisition and renewal campaigns. Coordinate with UCLA Chancellor’s Society staff as needed.

 

5. Work with stewardship staff to design donor and volunteer cultivation events to attract and retain interest in UCLA Anderson activities. Coordinate with stewardship staff for Dean’s Society communications and events.
