GENERAL DIRECTION - Indicates that the incumbent receives guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives and is responsible for establishing the methods to attain them. Generally the incumbent is in charge of an area of work, and typically formulates policy for this area but does not necessarily have final authority for approving policy.


POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Management Services Officer of the Geography department, the analyst will serve as the Academic and Staff Personnel HR and operations coordinator. Major duties include All hiring and processing of payroll, personnel and other HR duties. This includes new faculty, lecturers and Teaching Assistants. Processes all paper work needed for domestic and international visitors, both visiting student VGR's and Visiting Professors. Works with international visitors to obtain Visa's and other necessary forms for US entry. Processes all dossiers for Faculty merit reviews. Performs all UCPath transactions. Performs accounts payable transactions with a focus on (but not exclusive to) payroll and personnel entries and reporting. Some purchasing responsibilities. Additional duties include working on and attending department events, conferences and lecturers, managing computing and other equipment and utilizing online financial systems. Serves as back-up to other positions in department. Additional work for self-­supporting program MAGIST: Ensuring requests, payroll and documentation for faculty participation, faculty overload teaching, and faculty exceptions related to MAGIST participation are submitted to UCLA administration in a timely manner; processing all hiring of MAGIST instructors each academic quarter including submitting all paperwork for appointments; handling all personnel issues associated with MAGIST instructional staff, updating JD and posting the positions on UC Recruit. this work constitutes additional work of 5% time or 2 hours per week.

Process All Payroll actions, for staff, students and visitors through UCPath (E) 5. Reconcile Payroll ledger/funds (E) 6. Work with payroll systems and prepare payroll budgets (E)
