POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of CSO Managers, ensure a safe and secure university environment. Major duties include: patrolling both the campus as a whole and assigned areas, and contacting the appropriate emergency personnel via radio in the event of observed criminal, suspicious, or emergency circumstances.

The UCLA Police Department is a leader in providing progressive law enforcement services to a major urban campus and its surrounding community. We are dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment for teaching, research and public service. We do this through patrol, rapid response to calls for service, investigations, education and implementation of preventative strategies. Our work, grounded in a community policing philosophy, utilizes campus partnerships as the most effective approach for insuring a safe campus.

1. Function as "eyes and ears" of the UCLA Police Department by patrolling designated areas and radioing the police dispatch center to advise of suspicious or criminal activity, or life threatening circumstances. (E)

2. Serve as a communication link between the campus community and University Police, fire, and medical personnel. (E)

3. Provide safety and security to UCLA students, staff, faculty, and visitors by deterring crime. (E)

4. Staff CSO Programs field details, following set Operational Policies and Procedures. (E)

5. Operate and monitor two-way radio to communicate with CSOs, police officers, and other personnel. (E)

6. Complete all logs, as required, for each shift worked. (E)

7. Work mandatory assigned shifts in emergencies. (E)

1. Read Slack CSO Channel to receive information on criminal occurrences, new or revised Operational Policies and/or Procedures, etc. (E)

2. Work a minimum of 40 hours per week. (E)

3. Record hours via time punches and shift codes for each shift accurately. (E)

4. Complete required training, online and/or in-person, as assigned. (E)

5. Attend scheduled general meetings of all Community Services employees. (M)

Reporting and Background Check Requirements

Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.

Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.

Age Requirement: Candidate(s) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to be hired.

COVID and Flu Vaccinations: The position is subject to providing evidence of inoculation.
