POSITION SUMMARY | Under supervision of the Storeroom Supervisor, the Stores Worker will receive, identify and deliver orders for five departments. Assist with mail distribution, equipment inventory identification, the relocation of labs, offices and equipment. Provide support to the Storeroom and Drosophila Media Facility as needed. Assist w/ the maintenance of multiple copy machines. Provide allied support as requested by Supervisor and/or the Building Operations Manager. | | | |
Department Summary | Life Sciences Administration provides research and instructional support, operational support, computer support, website development, and facilities management for several large departments within Life Sciences. It also provides payroll, personnel and financial services for LS Computing, LS Research Core Facilities, and itself. |
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions | Function | Responsibilities | % Time | RECEIVING | A1. Receive, identify requestor, verify correctness of shipment and deliver materials to the appropriate requestor. Storeroom receives 40-60 individual orders a day for research, course and administrative use for the five departments managed by LSA. Materials are delivered to individual office/labs located in four buildings. When receiving palletized materials or large equipment incumbent uses pallet jacks and/or any other specialized equipment necessary to unload and/or deliver these large shipments. (E) A2. Assist customers to properly prepare and ship out materials. Manifest all incoming and outgoing FED-EX, Airborne, UPS and other shipments. (E) A3.Inspect all orders received and resolve any problems related to damaged items, duplicate, incorrect or cancelled shipments. (E) | 60% | STOREROOM | B1. Assist in data entry of storeroom sales/purchases into a computer inventory program. (E) B2. Assist storeroom customers over the counter, dispensing stock as requested. (E) B3. Assist in the table and chair arrangements for the department's conference rooms. Set-up and breakdown can occur several times a day depending on scheduling. (E) B4. Perform lab/office/equipment moves and lab/office clean out whenever required. (E) | 10% | DROSOPHILA MEDIA FACILITY | C1. Clean/prepare bottles and assist with deliveries whenever required. (E) | 10% | COPY FACILITIES | D1. Assist in maintaining multiple copy machines, order materials, clear jams, minor repairs, and contact vendor for repairs when required. (E) | 5% | MAIL DISTRIBUTION | E1. Assist in the identification and distribution of U.S. mail for faculty, staff, post-docs and grad students. (E) | 5% | EQUIPMENT INVENTORY | F1. Upon receipt of the Property Number Tag, locate the equipment and physically affix the PN tag onto the equipment and note its location, serial number and any other needed information. Notify the Storeroom supervisor of the pertinent information gathered on the equipment that has been tagged for updating of the Equipment database. (E) F2.
