POSITION SUMMARY

Under general supervision of the Executive Director Player Personnel, the Director of Scouting and High School will assist with the oversight and direction to all aspects of the recruiting and scouting departments as allowed per NCAA rules and regulations.

Management of Comprehensive System of Scouting

 • Supervision of all Recruiting Analysts. Working closely and in a supervisory capacity of the department.

 • Provide supervision and leadership in all scouting staff meetings, providing comprehensive updates on overall strategy and status as well as individual prospects.

 • Create and implement a comprehensive and complete strategy of identification and evaluation of all prospective student-athletes.

    ◦ Process will include creating systems for recording, tracking and updating status of prospects as well as organizational elements to evaluation process.

 • Create and determine the template for scouting evaluations to be used by football coaching staff over the course of their in person evaluation days.

Management of Comprehensive System of Scouting

 • Evaluation of usage of all third party and outside services (as approved by NCAA) relating to scouting of prospects.

 • Project current and future roster and depth needs, in turn influencing strategic scouting and evaluation decisions. Allowing for the prioritization of recruitment at particular positions.

 • Create and implement comprehensive video library for tracking and evaluating prospects.

 • Assist with supervision and leadership in all recruiting operations staff meetings.

 • Develop and maintain an outreach plan of messages and visuals to build the institutions relationship with recruits and their families.

 • Work closely with the Director of New Media and Executive Director of Player Personnel to develop and implement a comprehensive plan to effectively market and inform prospects on the staff, program and university.

Management of Comprehensive System of Recruiting

 • Set the template, organization and administration for all prospective student athlete visits- both official and unofficial visits. Provide direction for implementation and execution of all aspects regarding the visit.

 • Assist with the summer camp schedule, design the structure and organization for camps, and coordinate these events. 

 • Set the travel schedule for coaches on the road in the fall, winter, and spring.

 • Maintain and update a wide ranging and significant source of contacts for all recruiting related topics and information.

 • Ensure complete and proper adherence to all NCAA, Conference and UCLA rules and regulations related to the process of recruiting including schedule regular compliance and rules updates and educational sessions.

High School Relations

 • Build and maintain relationships with high school coaches, athletic directors, and key influencers to support recruiting outreach and program visibility.

 • Coordinate and manage all high school visits, campus tours, and unofficial recruiting events to enhance the experience for prospective student-athletes and their families.

 • Assist in recruiting strategy development by identifying target regions, evaluating recruiting pipelines, and supporting communication between coaching staff and prospective recruits.

 • Oversee communication and compliance protocols related to NCAA recruiting rules, ensuring all high school interactions are documented and within institutional and NCAA guidelines.

Administrative Support- Scouting and Recruiting

 • Work closely with the Chief of Staff and Associate Athletic Director concerning all budgetary items pertaining to football scouting and recruiting.

 • Oversight of 4 Full time employees, and therefore their respective areas of responsibility, providing periodic evaluations and setting direction and philosophy of workflow and assignments.

 • Oversight of all part time and student workers in recruiting.

 • Handles relationships and paperwork with recruiting vendors and services as approved by compliance and the NCAA.

Admissions Preparation

 • Gather transcripts and test scores for all recruits, and counsel them on what they need to be admitted in both course selection and performance.

 • Work closely with the SAAC preparation group to prepare scholarship and walk on prospects for admission.

 • Coordinate academic interviews for recruits selected to need one in admissions process.

Rules Compliance

 • Comply with all Federal, State, University and Department requirements established pursuant to Title IX, including the mandatory reporting requirements for a “Responsible Employee.”

 • The DIA is governed by the NCAA, Big Ten Conference, Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and University of California System.  The incumbent is required to comply with the applicable rules, regulations and policies of those organizations.

    ◦ Review and retain all rules compliance disseminated by the DIA Compliance office.

    ◦ Report all NCAA and conference violations.

    ◦ Sign the annual NCAA Certification of Compliance form.

    ◦ Complete the Athletically-Related Income form annually.

    ◦ Comply with California State Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) Law and adhere to mandatory reporting guidelines.
