POSITION SUMMARY

UCLA Student Affairs is a network of more than 25 programs, services, and experiences that connect with the life of every student during their collegiate career and strives to ensure students have the programs and resources to meet their personal and academic needs. As the Associate Director, Leadership Giving - Student Affairs, you will work across a variety of disciplines and on varied giving opportunities including those that benefit underserved student populations, student leadership programs, club and recreational sports, and much more. As the Associate Director, Leadership Giving, you will be member of UCLA Student Affairs' frontline fundraising team responsible for the identification, cultivation and solicitation of gifts from alumni and friends of UCLA with a specific focus on soliciting gifts ranging from $2,500 and up for Student Affairs. You will identify and manage a portfolio of current and/or lapsed donors and will create individualized cultivation and solicitation strategies and timetables. You will strategize and oversee execution of a variety of donor cultivation events with a focus on leadership level gifts.   In addition, you will work in partnership with the Director of Development, Student Affairs and other development team members on a wide variety of fundraising projects and initiatives and will be a strong contributor to the broader mission of the External Affairs office.

P:rospect Identification, Cultivation and Solicitation

1. Identify, cultivate and solicit prospects/donors; identify legitimate prospects for support; secure funding from current/lapsed donors, focusing on leadership level gifts of $2,500+ and/or as appropriate.

 

2. Qualify/create core of prospects; maintain awareness at all stages of identification, cultivation and solicitation.

 

3. Explore opportunities for engaging, cultivating, and soliciting new audiences; plan/implement cultivation activities to broaden base of support.

 

4. Create/implement strategies to increase participation of new donors; encourage current/past donors to renew at greater levels.

 

5. Conduct personal visits with prospects not managed by major gift officers; solicit leadership level/ junior level major gifts as appropriate.

1. Work closely with Asst Director, Annual Giving to provide direction/guidance of duties/responsibilities as appropriate.

 

2. Manage procedures for accurate/timely acknowledgement of gifts; complete gift reports as required.

 

3. Work with colleagues, faculty/staff, to advance long-range strategic giving opportunities to secure funding from diverse donors and increase the overall diversity of UCLA Student Affairs donor base.

 

4. Assist in the planning/organization of cultivation and events.

 

5. Develop strong, collegial/effective working relationships with colleagues at UCLA Student Affairs/across campus.

 

6. Manage own budget/expenses  associated with travel, entertainment and external communications.

 

7. Coordinate strategic outreach actions initiated by Student Affairs fundraisers.

Minimum of two years of demonstrated annual giving or fundraising experience and/or prior experience in a related field such as sales, marketing or business development.
