POSITION SUMMARY

The Systems Administrator II – Cloud & Application Support plays a vital role in supporting and maintaining the departments technical infrastructure while contributing to the development and enhancement of cloud-based applications and systems. This position supports both day-to-day IT operations and longer-term technology initiatives by ensuring reliable system performance, efficient user support, and scalable solutions.

 

The incumbent is responsible for providing advanced technical support across a range of systems, including end-user devices, enterprise applications, and cloud-based platforms. This role works closely with departmental leadership and stakeholders to troubleshoot issues, implement solutions, and improve system functionality across various environments.

 

In addition to core support responsibilities, the position contributes to the design, development, and implementation of cloud-based tools, automation processes, and system integrations. The incumbent supports data workflows, application performance, and operational efficiency by leveraging scripting, APIs, and cloud technologies.

 

The Systems Administrator II also plays a key role in maintaining system documentation, supporting onboarding and training efforts, and ensuring compliance with institutional IT standards and security practices. This position serves as a liaison between end users, central IT, and external vendors to support both operational needs and strategic initiatives.

 

A critical aspect of this role is the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and leadership in a variety of settings, including technical support interactions, project collaboration, and cross-functional initiatives. The incumbent contributes to improving service delivery, enhancing system capabilities, and supporting the department's evolving technology landscape.


Department Summary

The LADCFS + UCLA Academy of Workforce Excellence operates under a Title IV-E training contract between UCLA and the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (LADCFS). In collaboration with seven universities—UCLA, USC, CSULB, CSULA, CSUN, CSUDH, and APU—the Academy provides comprehensive training programs designed to equip LA Department of Children and Family Services (LADCFS) staff at all levels with the skills and knowledge necessary for child welfare services. The Academy facilitates foundational training, in-service education, and specialized off-site programs to enhance professional development. With a focus on workforce preparedness, operational excellence, and innovative training methodologies, the Academy plays a critical role in shaping the future of child welfare professionals in Los Angeles County.

Troubleshoot hardware, software, and access issues, ensuring timely resolution and high-quality customer service. Support onboarding/offboarding and maintain end-user system reliability.

Systems Administration & Infrastructure Support Administer and maintain departmental systems, including user accounts, permissions, configurations, and performance monitoring. Ensure system availability, apply updates, and coordinate with central IT and vendors to resolve escalated issues while maintaining security and compliance standards.

Cloud & Application Engineering Support the development and implementation of cloud-based solutions, automation workflows, and system integrations. Develop scripts and tools to improve operational efficiency and assist with managing cloud platforms (e.g., Azure/AWS) and application performance.

Maintain and support systems used to manage and track training activities, including learning management systems and related platforms. Ensure data accuracy, system functionality, and reliable access for users. Provide technical support for training-related systems and tools as needed, including troubleshooting virtual platforms and system access issues. Support departmental reporting needs by maintaining data records and generating reports related to system usage, participation, and operational metrics. Collaborate with stakeholders to support additional departmental systems and technology needs, ensuring alignment with operational goals and continuous system improvement.
