POSITION SUMMARY | Under the general direction of the Associate Director, administer department-wide functions for the Central Office and fifteen housing units by coordinating, providing direction, and monitoring judiciary procedures including investigations, hearings, and case resolution. Provide training and education to staff and students, and serve as a departmental liaison about conduct matters to other units. Assess and update policies and procedures through own expertise and solicitation of others' input. | | | |
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions | Function | Responsibilities | % Time | Student Conduct & Crisis Management | Interpret, implement, and enforce University conduct and activity regulations, and housing regulations within campus residential settings. Review, process, and disseminate all incoming Incident Reports. Monitor daily duty logs, identify critical incidents, and ensure all relevant information pertaining to the incidents has been submitted. Liaise with campus partners and develop action plans for critical student issues. Monitor incident follow-up to ensure adherence to laws, ethics, and University Policy and Regulations. Consult with Assistant Directors on case progress and staff performance. | 40% | Student Conduct Administration | Maintain Symplicity/Advocate student conduct data management system. Catalog and manage all incoming Incident Report forms and case materials in Advocate database in accordance with all records maintenance protocols. Monitor and track completion of all conduct paperwork to ensure compliance with UC, state, and Federal guidelines. Manage administrative aspects of the conduct process, including student appeals and hearings. | 20% | Training, Education, & Development | Train ResLife staff on Housing policies, documentation, and privacy/confidentiality laws. Collaborate with other campus units, as necessary, in the development of training materials and presentations. Regularly review conduct sanctions and develop new content to address behavioral trends. Research and develop workshops, trainings, and programs designed to promote community standards and proactively address behavioral concerns. Plan and coordinate educational workshops for departmental staff as they relate to student discipline issues, rules and regulations, FERPA, Clery Act and other related student affairs topics. Develop, promote, and conduct presentations on student conduct related matters to University entities and and to student affairs professionals on campus and beyond. | 20% | Student Conduct Reporting & Analytics | Collect, summarize, and analyze statistics and other relevant information regarding disciplinary matters within Residential Life. Prepare case summaries of conduct cases for department leadership and campus partners. Coordinate data collection efforts for internal/external audits and when Preservation Notices are sent by campus counsel. Conduct regular residential life judicial background checks for specified student staff and student groups. Coordinate with campus partners to implement quarterly enrollment checks. | 10% | Support | Serve as Departmental representative at local and system-wide meetings and task group gatherings (UC conduct officers, Inter-collegiate Conduct Officers, PAC 12 Conduct Officers). Serve as department liaison for campus mitigation efforts in response to violations of Time/Place/Manner guidelines and special events.
