POSITION SUMMARY | The LGBTQ Campus Resource Center Program Coordinator serves a pivotal role in the administration of the Center and the development of its policies and practices. Program Coordinator has direct responsibility for the Center's education initiatives and programs which have campus-wide impact, developing, implementing, and managing the Center's signature and regularly occurring programs and activities. | | | |
Department Summary | The UCLA Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Campus Resource Center is aligned under the Division of Campus Life in Student Affairs and supports students and employees of all genders and sexual and romantic orientations through community-building events, resources, counseling, outreach, training, consultation, and advocacy. The Center has proudly been serving the UCLA community for over 25 years. We approach our work through holistic, intersectional, and social justice frameworks that honor and empower individuals at their many identities and lived experiences including but not limited to race, ethnicity, immigration status, ability, religion, and class. |
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions | Function | Responsibilities | % Time | LGBT Center Leadership Team | 1. Assists Director in the development, management, and implementation of the Center's strategic goals and objectives. a. Designs effective learning outcomes for the educational endeavors of the Center. 2. Represents the Center and the campus' LGBTQ community on student affairs or campus-wide committees, as assigned. Brings the perspective of LGBTQ community needs to the decision-making process. 3. Provides leadership training to the Center's interns. May supervise interns from the LGBTQ Studies Program, MSW program, or the Edward Scott Morrison Scholar Program, in addition to interns who focus on marketing or programming. 4. Serves as consultant to campus departments on issues concerning campus climate and LGBTQ student life, and in response to anti-LGBTQ bias-related incidents. 5. Develops strategic partnerships with campus and community stakeholders. 6. Participate in evaluation of departmental programs and services. assess student needs; provide written reports and evaluations on events, activities, and incidents. 7. Participate in the academic mission of the University by: a. conducting research on LGBTQ-related issues, and publishing or presenting findings in scholarly journals or conferences. b. participating in professional organizations (Consortium, NASPA, ACPA, etc.) | 25% | Student Advising & Support | 1. Provide one-on-one support and advocacy to students. Examples include: a. Advising students and student organizations on issues related to LGBTQ concerns including workforce readiness, identity development, and interpersonal communication b. Plans events, educational workshops, and presentations to raise awareness of the Center and to develop and deepen knowledge, sensitivity, and understanding of diverse lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in the campus community. Develop and implement programs and services that have campus-wide impact on issues of sexual orientation and gender identity, incorporating developmental theories into practice. Conceptualize, develop and implement the Center's signature programs. Uses BruinBuy to purchase supplies for programs. Collaborate with other campus departments as appropriate. Program examples include: a. Educational programming b. Guest speakers c. Film screenings and discussions d. Social programs e. National Coming Out Day f. Pride Week g. Cookies & Queers h. Welcome Back QTs i. Trans Awareness Week j. World AIDS Day 2. Develop the UCLA Allyship training curriculum and program for students, staff and faculty and implement on a monthly basis. 3. Hire, train, and supervise the Center's Programming interns. 4. Develop programmatic partnerships with student organizations, academic and administrative departments, and community groups. 5. Advise and support LGBTQ student organizations' in regards to programming. 6.
