POSITION SUMMARY | Under general supervision of the Director, support the mission of UCLA Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) and the University in providing the highest quality mental health services for the wide range of students at UCLA. Provide medical services to clients including evaluations, medication management, emergency intervention, consultation to non-psychiatric staff, supervision of interns, and residents. Accept overall direction from the Director and participates in meetings, committees, and carry out necessary charting and data requirements. This is a 75% Career Appointment position. | | | |

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions | Function | Responsibilities | % Time | Clinical services | Provides psychiatric evaluation and treatment planning for students with a full range of mental health concerns. Prescribes psychiatric medications and provides medication management . Initiate arrangements for patients requiring hospitalization or admission to the emergency room. Provides emergency services to severely disturbed patients, including suicidal and psychotic students, including after-hours when contacted. Provides psychiatric back-up to Department's emergency OD system. | 25% | Consultation and liaison | Provide consultation to CAPS non-psychiatric staff regarding clinical case management, patient management, and treatment planning. Provide consultation and liaison to SHS non-psychiatric physicians. Participate in departmental point coverage system. Provide liaison with emergency room and NPI.
