POSITION SUMMARY

The CAE Housing and Auxiliary Services Coordinator will work with UCLA Housing, UCLA Transportation, as well as colleagues within CAE to support accessible education within the teaching, research, and public service mission of the University. The Coordinator will deliver a wide array of quality services, products, and programs to assist students with disabilities living in university housing and students who require auxiliary services.

 

Under the general direction of the Associate Director for Programming, Evaluation and Auxiliary Services, the incumbent will lead initiatives to ensure CAE and Housing Services maintain a focus on providing relevant and consistent housing and programs to support the mission of CAE and UCLA. The incumbent develops, evaluates, and oversees departmental outreach and communications for students and internal customers. Outreach and communication initiatives include: development and coordination of publications, web content, and media productions directed at a variety of populations and target market segments; student care management for at-risk populations; participation in on-campus committees and boards that affect housing and parking and presentations that support and develop the CAE mission; liaison to private renters in the surrounding community. The incumbent serves as a coordinator of the Housing Accommodations Board, assuming a variety of responsibilities for its administration, planning, deadlines, organizing, and management. Additionally, the Housing and Auxiliary Services Coordinator manages all processes and protocol related to parking and transportation accommodations provided by CAE, including providing information to eligible riders for the UCLA BruinAccess Van Service, collaborating with UCLA Transportation to inform them of eligible riders, and allocating Parking Permits as needed. They will guide and counsel families, students, faculty, and any other party appeal to board through the dialogue to ascertain reasonable accommodations the university can provide.

The mission of the Center for Accessible Education (CAE) is to create an accessible, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Through a collaborative effort with faculty, staff, and students, the CAE facilitates academic accommodations, disability advocacy, and serves as an educational resource for the campus community. Staff in the Center for Accessible Education work with thousands of undergraduate, graduate and professional students through an interactive process to determine reasonable and appropriate accommodations and support related to specific disability-related needs.

Coordination and Administration of Housing Accommodation Processes

Serves as Coordinator of the Housing Accommodations Board and serves on housing-related and disability-related task forces and committees as requested. Engages individually with students in the interactive process for determination of housing accommodations. Manages requests for accessibility accommodations in university housing, assigns them to the Disability Specialist or Housing Accommodation Review Board, organizes meetings for review, and communicates decisions to requestors.

Coordination and Administration of Parking and Transportation Accommodation Processes

Based on review of reasonable requests, allocate parking to matriculating students, referring those with disability-related parking needs to obtain DMV placards. Educate students on the DMV accessible parking application process. Liase with UCLA Transportation to provide information on eligible riders for BruinAccess Mobility Assistance Van Service. Facilitate approval for eligible students to use BruinAccess Mobility Assistance Van Service through an interactive process. Conduct training and orientation sessions on parking and accessible transportation services for approved students.

Training and Outreach

Promote campus awareness of the Center for Accessible Education (CAE) and its housing, parking, and transportation services by conducting departmental trainings, participating in outreach events, and developing and organizing workshops. Build and maintain relationships with UCLA and UC colleagues to share best practices.

Management of Office Marketing and Communications

Manage office marketing and communication efforts, including curating and distributing content via social media, newsletters, and Campaign Enterprise. Co-chair a working group for office communications, marketing, programming, and outreach. Supervise 2 student interns overseeing social media management and programming.

Other Duties

Other Duties as assigned such as performing general office functions as needed, representing these departments on committees, or completing special projects to support the office and the Division of Student Affairs. Maintains daily records and inputs case notes and important case information into CAE database.
