POSITION SUMMARY | The Assistant Resident Director is an entry-level professional position responsible for assisting the Resident Director with the implementation of the student development program in the residential community. Assigned to a community of approximately 800-1500 students, and may work with 8-24 Resident Assistants/ Apartment Resident Assistants and other student leaders. Under the supervision of the Resident Director, provides support to student staff advising and training; program oversight; Student Government advising; counseling/advising individuals; emergency/crisis response; student conduct; collaborate with Front Desk operations, Housing Assignments and Dining Services to provide student service. This position is a full-time, live-in residence, contract position. | | | |

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions | Function | Responsibilities | % Time | Community Building | Interpret and convey policies and guidelines for University, Campus, and Residence Hall activities. Implement and coordinate residential community programs as directed. Plan, organize, and review activities and events for RAs, ARAs, and student government. Distribute information about campus services and prepare a weekly or monthly calendar of events. Help develop and coordinate academic and educational programs. Maintain records on hall/community activities and advise on program implementation. Participate in committees and coordinate All-Hill Events. Schedule facilities and equipment use, ensuring timely follow-up. Drive campus GEM car for event logistics. | 45% | Supervision & Advising | Participate in the selection, training, counseling, and discipline of student employees, including RAs, ARAs, and OAs. Coordinate staff meetings with the Resident Director and consult on activities and issues. Advise RAs, ARAs, and Student Government on maintaining balanced cultural, social, educational, athletic, and service programs. Provide guidance on group dynamics and teamwork. Refer students to University and non-University agencies as needed. Assist in advising student government meetings and activities, attending to monitor operations. Coordinate and deliver training sessions for ARD, student staff, and student government. Guide students on housing procedures and assist with housing-related issues. Provide general crisis counseling. | 40% | Student Conduct/Crisis Response | Under the Resident Director's guidance, enforce Campus Housing and University regulations, and State and Federal laws within residence halls. Investigate complaints, conduct judicial meetings, and recommend sanctions. Respond to on-site emergencies in Campus Housing, informing residents and staff of proper procedures and laws. Hold residents and staff accountable for following emergency protocols. Cooperate with housing partners and campus emergency response entities during emergencies. UA South ARDs participate in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation, which includes 12-hour duty shifts and timely response and support for incidents and emergencies. | 10% | Administrative Responsibilities | Assist with office management and provide backup for residential housing issues, as needed.
