POSITION SUMMARY

The Section of Oral/Head & Neck Oncology Research at UCLA School of Dentistry, led by Professor David T.W. Wong, seeks a motivated Research Data Analyst I to assist in a translational research program focused on developing novel liquid biopsy biomarkers for early cancer detection.

The incumbent will support ongoing research projects by assisting with the processing, organization, and analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) and multi-omics data, including cfDNA, RNA-seq, and related datasets. The position will also provide general lab and computational support under close supervision of the Principal Investigator and senior researchers.

1. Assist with routine processing and organization of sequencing data and other large datasets.

2. Perform entry-level data analyses under supervision using established bioinformatics tools and pipelines.

3. Assist with quality control checks and basic statistical summaries of data.

4. Conduct literature searches and help prepare background materials for presentations, grant applications, and publications.

5. Help maintain documentation of workflows and data files for reproducibility.

Computational Assistance

1. Run existing scripts, pipelines, and software applications for data analysis.

2. Assist with managing computational files, directories, and databases.

3. Support setup and maintenance of lab computers and accounts as directed.

Lab Management & Administrative Support

1. Assist with lab organization, ordering supplies, and maintaining inventories.

2. Support laboratory safety compliance and preparation of standard operating procedures.

3. Help prepare presentation slides, reports, and meeting materials as requested.
