POSITION SUMMARY

The Center for Impact at UCLA Anderson is seeking a talented self-starter to lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of our community-engaged experiential learning programs. These initiatives connect MBA and other UCLA graduate students with nonprofit organizations and social enterprises through pro bono consulting and board service, advancing the school's public service mission and our commitment to purpose-driven leadership.

Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Faculty Director and Senior Manager of Programs and Finance, the Manager of Nonprofit and Community-Engaged Programs will oversee both new and existing programs, developing and implementing a variety of curricular and extracurricular initiatives related to social impact education, with responsibility for strategic program design, planning, and execution. This includes managing all aspects of program operations – from nonprofit and social enterprise partner engagement and student participation to program and event coordination, data tracking, and impact reporting.

In particular, the Center is currently undertaking an expansion of its Board Fellows Program and will be joining a national network of MBA Board Fellows Programs. The Manager of Nonprofit and Community-Engaged Programs will establish the infrastructure and processes to support this greatly expanded program and identify operational efficiencies across all the Center's community-facing programs for greater impact.

This position will work closely with a diverse set of stakeholders, including community-based nonprofits, foundations, social enterprises, graduate students, faculty, alumni, and donors to ensure the success and sustainability of these programs.

• Design and implement our expanded Board Fellows Program, including creating an action plan for outreach and student engagement and impact metrics to measure success.

• Create and maintain a tracking system for all student and client applications and participants to ensure long-term evaluation and frequent collection of feedback.

• Design and establish practices and protocols for student relationships with external partners, including assisting students in scoping projects and overseeing ongoing project work.

• Establish external visibility of the newly expanded Board Fellows Program as well as our pipeline of pro bono nonprofit programs via websites, social media and other communications.

• Plan networking events to promote our pro bono programs, garner community support and recruit nonprofit participants.

• Plan and execute kick-off and closing events for our social impact consulting and board fellows programs, including undertaking all logistical details of event management.

• Generate annual program reports and slides for reporting back to donors and participants.

The successful candidate will be a strong relationship builder and public speaker, with a keen eye for detail and exceptional project management and communication skills. We are looking for a self-motivated and collaborative professional with expertise in program design and evaluation, who is familiar with the Southern California nonprofit landscape, social impact consulting and higher education. The successful candidate should be prepared to represent the Center for Impact at conferences and other events among peer schools, foundations and social impact agencies.

Individual will work with minimal supervision and is expected to initiate and complete projects without oversight, except where policy issues and exceptional situations arise.

Detailed Responsibilities

- Research opportunities for nonprofit client cultivation, create a strategic vision and action plan for outreach to nonprofits and foundations.

- Collaborate with faculty, staff and student leaders to design, launch and manage the expansion of the Board Fellows Program.

- Identify alumni and other mentors and develop structures to connect individual students to mentoring opportunities for our community-facing programs.

- Develop briefings, presentations and customized materials on our programs

- Create a communications strategy to build and maintain awareness about the Center for Impact's community-facing impact consulting programs.

- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Center's social impact consulting and board fellows programs, including timelines, nonprofit client recruitment, student participation, website development, grants allocations to nonprofits, survey design and evaluations.

- Identify and track key performance indicators for the program; identify data collection opportunities for ongoing program improvements.

- Produce annual and ad hoc program impact reports to communicate outcomes to internal and external stakeholders.

- Organize and coordinate kickoff and closing events for each program, and academic content and workshops to ensure student learning objectives are being met.

- Collaborate to create memorandums of understandings and project scopes with nonprofit clients and student teams.

- Actively manage relationships with external partner organizations, student leaders, faculty, and alumni advisors.

- Coordinate UCLA Anderson's participation in conferences and convenings, including with other universities' board fellows programs.

- Engage with donors and development staff as needed to support fundraising efforts; identify potential funding opportunities and contribute to donor meetings and stewardship activities.

- Support the planning and execution of speaker events, conferences, and one-off events related to community-engaged and social impact topics.

Department Summary

The Center for Impact at the UCLA Anderson School of Management has a mission to inspire, educate and challenge the next generation of leaders to be change makers for positive societal impact. The center has three goals: (1) integrate social impact and sustainability into fundamental business education, (2) engage with UCLA faculty to formalize impact measurement and nudge corporate performance, and (3) help firms, consumers, investors and stakeholders make decisions that are better for people and the planet.

The Center for Impact offers experiential curricular and co-curricular programs to graduate students in social impact and sustainability. Our Social Impact Consulting programs provide pro bono services to nonprofit organizations by matching clients with a team of MBA students for management consulting engagements. The Board Fellows Program places MBA students on nonprofit boards as non-voting members for one year, during which time student fellows conduct a strategic project of value to their host organization.
