POSITION SUMMARY | Reporting directly to the Manager of the Department of Art, the Summer Institutes Director designs, conducts, promotes, and supports pre-college programs for UCLA Arts Summer Institutes. Researches and assesses educational needs and interests for arts programs serving minors and develops programs, materials, technology and learning approaches accordingly to ensure the successful delivery of the UCLA Arts Summer Institutes. The incumbent also oversees all aspects of the Department of Art Pre-College Summer Institute including management of all program logistics, and curriculum-related activities, and ensures effective program implementation for a diverse group of minor-aged student participants. The incumbent applies professional knowledge and program management experience to oversee housing and residence hall living for all UCLA Arts Summer Institutes. This includes program planning, operational oversight, budgeting management and analytical coordination. The incumbent works closely with all departmental staff and faculty and serves as the primary liaison to campus partners including the UCLA Finance, Registrar, Conference Services, Housing, and other relevant campus units. Primary responsibilities include program planning and operations; registration and admissions; hiring, training, and supervising program resident counselors and instructional staff; providing student support; coordinating housing contracts and program logistics recruiting; developing and overseeing student engagement and non-curricular activities; and ensuring compliance with university policies and regulatory requirements associated with programs serving minors. Receives general instructions and exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques for course and instructional improvement. Fully knowledgeable in course subject matter and program. The Summer Institutes Director exercises independent judgment in planning and implementing program operations, resolving issues, and prioritizing multiple programs needs simultaneously. The incumbent regularly communicates with and provides support to parents, students, applicants, faculty, and staff, ensuring responsive service and effective program delivery. Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to independently manage competing priorities are essential. Manage vendor coordination and associated agreements as necessary. 5.
