POSITION SUMMARY | The Music Inquiry Support Facilitator works in collaboration with the Music Demonstration Teacher, administration, and Demonstration Teachers to provide an appropriate educational environment for children ages 4 to 12,planning and engaging music learning experiences at UCLA Lab School. Coordinate with classroom teachers to encourage cross-curricular learning with a social justice emphasis. The UCLA Lab School, part of the School of Education &Information Studies, is an innovative school committed to research-based education for student body of 450 students, ages 4-12.The Music Inquiry Support Facilitator will develop an engaging Music curriculum and progressive lessons, with references to the National Core Art Standards, within a unit tailored to meet the needs of a broad range of music development levels for students ages 4-12 at UCLA Lab School. Develop appropriate follow-up practice for the various age groups and language levels. Communicate with parents, through our website, email and/or in writing, the units of study and additional resources providing opportunities for parent engagement with their child bridging home to school. Identify and utilize resources appropriate to support the music program. Utilize the classroom environment to support music development. | | | |

Design, organize and maintain an engaging and developmentally appropriate music learning environment. (E) A2. Collaborate with Music Demonstration Teacher and Demonstration Teachers in planning and implementing age-appropriate and engaging learning experiences in the classroom in Music Arts. (E) A3. Work in designing and implementing engaging and age-appropriate follow-up activities at home. (E) A4 Develop teaching lessons highlighting various music genres. (E) A5. Basic piano skills or simple guitar accompaniment skills to help engage students. (E) A6. Encourage the use of classroom instruments and other modern elementary music vocal and instrumental pedagogical techniques to ensure a well-rounded, general music learning experience for all types of learners. (E) A7. Foster an appreciation of music and inspire students to become independent learners and involved in the performing arts as they grow. (E) A8. Coordinate and direct multiple performances with different age levels, including Upper Culmination, Early Childhood Winter Sing, and other level celebrations. These are collaborative efforts with classroom teachers. (E) A9. Assist Upper teachers in recording the culmination poem and writing a song for faculty and staff to perform for students at culmination. (E) A10. Facilitate singing at school assemblies, in coordination with respective levels, often taking on the role of MC. A11. Provide teachers with informal assessments/observations of students' progress. (E) A12. Collaborate with Demonstration Teachers to infuse music through the inquiry process. (E) A13. Set up audio, visual, and stage equipment required for special events, including speakers, microphones, sound systems, and all necessary wiring.
