POSITION SUMMARY

The Academic Programs Coordinator plays a critical role in the administration, evaluation, and accreditation of academic programs within the UCLA Joe C. Wen School of Nursing. This position requires deep familiarity with the School's unique curriculum, policies, systems (including Bruin Learn), and existing infrastructure - along with trusted relationships across academic leadership. The Academic Programs Coordinator will possess direct experience with UCLA School of Nursing programs and be capable of managing complex, cross-functional academic processes with direction. The Academic Programs Coordinator reports directly to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.


Department Summary

The UCLA Joe C. Wen School of Nursing is a nationally recognized leader in nursing education, research, and clinical practice, preparing students to excel in patient care, research, education, and leadership. The School enrolls approximately 600 students, including 200 undergraduates and 400 graduate students, supported by 30+ tenured and research faculty and 40+ adjunct faculty and lecturers. This structure creates a uniquely supportive academic community within a major research institution—offering both personalized mentorship and access to cutting‑edge resources. Academic offerings span bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and post‑master’s certificate programs, all taught by nationally recognized faculty. Programs emphasize evidence‑based practice, clinical excellence, and leadership development, with students gaining experience across diverse clinical settings through UCLA Health and community partnerships.

Curriculum Planning & Evaluation

â—Ź Oversee the coordination and tracking of curricular changes across graduate programs, including centralized management of core academic documents such as the Student and Faculty Handbooks, to prepare and produce reports for accrediting bodies.

• Support implementation of competency-based education (CBE).

• Lead day-to-day administrative operations for the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, overseeing accreditation activities, program evaluation, and operational support for faculty and students.

• Advise faculty and staff on DNP program sequencing, assessment design, and curriculum alignment.

• Assist and advise on competency-based education standards, its integration into academic program outcomes, and tracking student progression.

• Compliance and Accreditation: Ensure academic programs comply with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements, including conducting internal audits, preparing reports, and participating in accreditation processes.

• Ensure accurate application of University, AACN, and BRN standards across all curricular updates.

• Support DNP program meetings to include: assisting with clinical nursing education and clinical placement procedures and drafting of Affiliation Agreements, between UCLA departments and health care facilities.

• Develop required reports for academic accreditation including: Academic Senate Reviews, CCNE reports and BRN reports.

• Direct experience in gathering and analyzing evaluation data (course evaluations, graduation metrics, academic outcomes) and synthesize it into executive summaries for academic departmental leadership, regulatory bodies, and communities of interest.

• Partner with student affairs and academic leadership to proactively address student support, advisement, retention, and accommodations.

Program Development & Coordination

â—Ź Manage DNP curriculum revisions and academic documentation to ensure regulatory compliance.

â—Ź Manage on-boarding, orientation, and ongoing support for faculty teaching in the DNP program by managing and leveraging Bruin Learn program sites.

â—Ź Lead process improvements in conjunction with program directors, in response to recurring operational pain points, such as redesigning tools to reduce student grievances and support equitable access.

â—Ź Serve as a liaison between Academic Affairs, SAO, Chairs, faculty, and other UCLA departments.

Demonstrated knowledge drafting and executing Affiliation Agreements between UCLA and clinical sites for clinical placements.  This requires the ability to work with legal and risk professionals and have an understanding of complex medical and legal language.
