POSITION SUMMARY

The Research Analyst will work with the POWER Team to support the Department of Economic Opportunity High Road Training Partnership (HRTP) initiative project. The Analyst will lead research coordination, methodology design, implementation, data analysis and dissemination. The position will entail attending meetings and regularly engaging with community partners and key stakeholders in critical workforce development in Los Angeles and California. The research includes surveys, interviews, literature reviews, and government data sources. The Analyst will work with a research team and together prepare reports and visually appealing materials for varied audiences.

 

Specific responsibilities include supporting the design of research methodology, coordinating various components of the research such as developing and monitoring team workplans and overseeing fielding and data collection, conducting research tasks such as literature reviews, preparing data for analysis such as cleaning datasets, analyzing data using software, preparing and summarizing data for reports, report drafting, and supporting dissemination to broad audiences.

The Institute for Research on Labor and Employment (IRLE) is a multidisciplinary research center dedicated to advancing labor research and education for workplace justice. Through the work of its units; the UCLA Labor Center, the Labor Occupational Safety and Health program (LOSH) and Human Resources Roundtable (HARRT); its academic program, the UCLA Labor Studies Department; and its research initiatives, the Institute forms wide-ranging economic equity agendas that carry UCLA into the Los Angeles community and beyond.

 Develop research and evaluation methodologies and coordinate implementation for the DEO HRTP initiatve.    

 Manage survey implementation and monitor progress.

 Direct and plan advanced statistical analysis like regression, confidence intervals, and hypothesis testing on survey projects.

Research Coordination, Data Collection and Analysis

●Supports the design of research methodology such as sampling and fielding procedures, research instruments, databases and pilots.

●Coordinates various components of the research and evaluation projects (developing and monitoring team workplans, overseeing fielding and data collection.)

●Conducts research tasks such as literature reviews, analysis of government data, and collecting surveys, focus groups, and interviews.

●Prepares data for analysis such as cleaning survey datasets, transcribing and coding interviews and focus groups . Analyzes data using STATA or R for surveys and Dedoose for interviews.

●Prepares and summarizes data and literature and/or recommendations.

●Drafts and edits internal and external documents, including analyses and reports. Development of accessible media.
