POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Director, Football Video Operations, provide audio and visual needs to the UCLA Football program and also serve as a contact for equipment inventory and maintenance of the department's video and media assets. Individual will assist in the training and scheduling of part time staff to help accomplish goals of the football video department. Events include, but are not limited to: practices, competitions, and selected specialty events which includes, but not limited to, Official Visits. Additionally, the role will assist in creating and help manage the Wasserman Football Facility's video system(s) and maintain working schematics of all Audio/Visual assets. The Assistant Director, Football Video Operations will assist in managing the UCLA Football video archives and the video department inventory.

 • Assist the video department with football practice/game operations.

 • Will assist coaches with any video cutups/edits they request and be available working shifts determined by the Director, Football Video Operations.

 • Review daily practice schedule and fill requests for equipment and staff needed to meet the request.

 • Prepare video equipment, computers, and appropriate accessories for scheduled practice, and confirm the number of cameras and location angles to video tape.

 • Deliver content in a timely fashion designated by the needs of each practice.

 • Maintain a professional relationship when handling requests from the coaching staff.

 • Correspond with coaching staff needs of various scheduling problems that may arise in a professional manner.

 • Keep in constant communication with the Director, Football Video Operations about all schedule changes.

 • Maintain a prominent level of quality productivity meeting all deadlines set by the football staff.

 • Responsible for maintenance of all audio and video equipment.

    ◦ Identify, report, and document problems and necessary repairs.

    ◦ Ensure that all equipment is accounted for and secured in an organized storage area.

    ◦ Must have a full understanding of video equipment including remote cameras, fiber networking, 8K MastRCam, and ENG camera systems.

    ◦ Provide inspections and maintenance of all equipment to sustain optimum running levels.

    ◦ Perform troubleshooting with all third party software packages used by the football staff.

    ◦ May be required to pick up and deliver serviced equipment and parts.

Football Video Operations

 • Assist the Director, Football Video Operations with procedures related to video acquisition and utilization of the following software, including Catapult, DVSport, Crestron and other software applications, and hardware equipment purchases and maintenance.

 • Must be available to travel frequently to assist with all video needs during away games.

    ◦ Assist with the storing and transportation of all necessary items for travel.

    ◦ Assist with all video acquisition hardware/software.

    ◦ Verify before departure that all equipment is in working condition and securely stored for transportation. 

    ◦ Responsible for packing camera protection for inclement weather.

    ◦ Responsible for hardware set up at hotel location.

    ◦ Set up all equipment in line with needs, space available, and regulations.

Football Video Operations

 • Collaborate with staff to meet and fulfill coaches' needs and expectations.

 • Assist with production of highlight meeting video tapes, if needed.

 • May be required to travel for delivery / transportation of video equipment.

 • Maintain database of all video assets for the football program and collaboratively make recommendations for replacement within policy and budget.

 • Must be able to work flexible hours including nights and holidays.

Video Equipment Maintenance / Troubleshooting

 • Function as a troubleshooter for problematic and/or complicated equipment requests and set-ups. If necessary, seek the assistance of the Director, Football Video Operations or Associate Director as needed.

 • Assist coaches with unsatisfactory results of usage of all video equipment and hand-held control devices (i.e. remote controls, phones, tablets, etc).

 • Identify defective equipment (cables, docking stations, etc). Must be able to restore to proper working order with minimal assistance.

 • Provide immediate customer service and/or troubleshooting by responding to questions related to audio-visual equipment availability and/or needs.

Oversight of Part-Time Staff

 • Assist with selections and evaluation of new students and casual employees.

 • Responsible in Identify, prioritize, and assign tasks and projects to appropriate student/casual staff members with football assignments.

 • Train new student/casual employees on the usage of video equipment utilized in football video operations.

 • Train new student/casual employees on operating video equipment used in the assistance of any video operation, including safety needs for equipment operation.

 • Must report to the Director, Football Video Operations, any absences due to work-related injuries, illness, personal, etc. of all student employees.

 • Assign various video projects to student/casual employees.

 • Comply with all Federal, State, University and Department requirements established pursuant to Title IX, including the mandatory reporting requirements for a “Responsible Employee.”

 • The DIA is governed by the NCAA, Big Ten Conference, Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and University of California System.  The incumbent is required to comply with the applicable rules, regulations and policies of those organizations.

    ◦ Review and retain all rules compliance disseminated by the DIA Compliance office.

    ◦ Report all NCAA and conference violations.

    ◦ Sign the annual NCAA Certification of Compliance form.

    ◦ Complete the Athletically-Related Income form annually.

    ◦ Comply with California State Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) Law and adhere to mandatory reporting guidelines.
