POSITION SUMMARY | Under the direction of the Manager and or Supervisor of the Plumbing shop perform the full range of journey level functions of a Plumber. Inspect, maintain, repair, design, modify, and alter campus infrastructure to include all buildings, common areas, equipment, and building systems and ensure the efficient operation of the campus. Assemble, install, and repair pipes composed of metals such as iron, steel, brass, copper or lead, and nonmetals such as glass, vitrified clay and plastic. Assemble, install, and repair pipe fittings, valves and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems. Cut and thread pipes using pipe cutters and cutting torch. Install and repair plumbing fixtures. Operate, inspect and maintain tools of the plumbing trade. Perform finish plumbing and trim work. Read and interpret blueprints and develop layouts. Clean-up job site and assure good safety practices are observed on the job site and that tools and equipment are used with caution. Responsible for communicating job-related problems to appropriate supervisory levels in order to resolve on-site job concerns. | | | |

Inspect piping systems for signs of damage, malfunctions, deterioration, or need for adjustment. 2. Maintain and repair piping systems including water mains; maintain various plumbing exchangers.3.Cut and thread pipes using pipe cutters and cutting torch; join pipes by use of screws, bolts, fitting, or solder and caulk joints; connect PVC piping with solvent weld. 4. Lubricate and/or adjust gaskets, seals, expansion joints, traps, screens, filters, tools, equipment, fixtures. Adjust valves and meters, pressure regulators, packing glands; replace valves. 5. Inspect and conduct appropriate testing, e.g., treatment of water, plumbing fixtures, etc. 6. Respond to trouble calls involving an emergency repair or replacement. | 50% | Installation and Modification | 1. Work from blueprints, drawings or oral instructions in the construction, modification and installation of piping and plumbing systems in order to meet requirements of construction and alteration projects. Report discrepancies in existing blueprints to supervisor in order to keep existing as-builts as current as possible. 2. Set and erect water heaters, filters, water softeners, purifiers,pumps, coolers and all piping for same. 3. Install and repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, bathroom hardware, hot water tanks, showers, dishwashers and garbage disposal units; install autoclaves, expansion tanks, glass washers. 4. Assemble, install and repair valves, pipe fittings and fixtures of             heating, water and drainage systems. 5. Install pipe transportation lines for artificial and natural gases, chemicals, minerals and by-products; install cold, hot and circulating water lines, piping for house pumps and tanks, cellar drainers, ornamental pools, display and drinking fountains and aquariums; install piping for pneumatic vacuum cleaning systems. 6. Install insulating materials for pipes and equipment related to domestic and industrial systems.7. Install temporary piping of every description in connection with             building and construction work, excavating and underground construction. 8. Install fire stand pipes, fire pumps, pressure and storage tanks, valves and all piping for sprinkler work. Install emergency showers and eye washes. | 40% | Administrative Tasks | 1. With smaller projects and minor repairs, evaluate problem, extent of repair and determine appropriate material and equipment required to complete project. 2. Submit completed work orders to supervisor for closing out project. 3. Asbestos Abatement request tools and equipment, materials, parts, etc. and submit to supervisor. 4. Orally discuss jobs with supervisor in order to keep apprised of job progress and to resolve any problem(s) related to job. 5. Provide direction to Facilities Mechanics and/or Facilities Workers. | 5% | General Tasks | 1. Maintain accurate hours worked on each job. 2. Operate and maintain a variety of power and/or hand tools and equipment related to the trade. 3. Ensure and transport materials, equipment and personnel to and from job site expeditiously. 4. Follow established safety procedures at all times including inspecting tools and equipment for signs of damage, malfunction or deterioration on a regular basis. 5. Upon completion of work, clean up job site and return equipment, materials, tools, radios, pagers, and Kronos wands to designated storage areas. 6.
