POSITION SUMMARY

The UCLA School of Law Veterans Legal Clinic seeks a dedicated Paralegal to support its mission of addressing the unmet legal needs of veterans, particularly those residing at or receiving services from the West LA VA Medical Center. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful legal work while engaging with a vulnerable population. The Paralegal will provide critical support in legal casework, client engagement, and community outreach. Responsibilities include conducting detailed records reviews, preparing legal forms and pleadings, drafting client declarations and demand letters, and performing legal research under the supervision of a licensed attorney. The Paralegal will also organize outreach events in coordination with VA stakeholders. Legal services provided by the clinic include veterans' disability benefits, traffic and quality-of-life citations, criminal record clearing, and landlord-tenant disputes.

ʉۢ Gather and assemble analytical and factual data on assigned problems and legal issues. (E)

ʉۢ Provides analytical summaries on the assigned case or issue. Assist attorneys in analyzing documents and tracking case progress. (E)

ʉۢ Prepares, edits, and modifies legal forms for submission to courts or administrative agencies. (E)

ʉۢ Draft simple court pleadings, demand letters, and client declarations. (E)

ʉۢ Conduct legal and factual research to support case development. (E)

ʉۢ Compile and organize data from legal digests, manuals, and case files. (E)

ʉۢ Organize and manage all aspects of outreach events within incumbents' purview at the West LA VA Campus, including coordination with stakeholders, creation and dissemination of documents, and recruitment and training of attendees and volunteers. (E)
