POSITION SUMMARY | Under the supervision of the Supervisor and Manager for Paint/Sign/Roofing/Mason Shops, maintain, repair, design, modify and/or alter masonry, concrete: cutting coring or pouring, tile work, brick, concrete set up and finishing, walkways, retaining walls etc. of buildings, walkways, and related structures and facilities. Set-up job by collecting and preparing supplies and equipment used in all phases of masonry using: cement mixers, stones, brick mortar, shovels, wood strips, nails, adhesives etc. Inspect all complete projects and submit all labor and material charges appropriately. Apprise supervisor of job progress and to resolve any problem(s) related to the job. Provide direction to semi-skilled and unskilled workers. Established safety procedures at all times. | | | |

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions | Function | Responsibilities | % Time | Maintenance and Repair | 1. Inspect and identify damages to masonry such as broken concrete, etc. needing repair. E. 2. Maintain and make temporary and permanent repairs to walkways, walls, and related structures or facilities. E 3. Perform on-going inspection of campus and related walkways and structures to assess condition in order to determine repairs required. E 4. Maintain and repair of concrete, stone, ceramic tile, and marble surfaces, etc. E 5. Determine appropriate supplies and equipment needed. E 6. Respond to trouble calls involving emergency repairs as required. E | 50% | Installation and Modification | 1. Work from blueprints, drawings or oral instructions in the modification and installation of campus walkways, walls, and related structures and facilities to meet the requirements of construction and alteration projects. E 2. Report discrepancies in existing blueprints to Supervisor in order to keep existing as-builts as current as possible. E 3. Demolish and remove existing roof system and related components as required. E 4. Install new/existing walkways, walls, structures, or facilities with appropriate material and equipment. E 5. Inspect and complete projects and submit all labor and materials charges appropriately. E | 40% | Administrative Tasks | 1. With smaller projects and minor repairs, evaluate problem, extent of repair, and determine appropriate material and equipment required to complete project. E 2. Submit completed work orders to Supervisor for closing out project. E 3. Request tools and equipment materials, parts, etc. and submit to Supervisor. E 4. Orally discuss jobs with Supervisor in order to keep apprised of job progress and resolve any problems related to job. E 5. Provide direction to Facilities Mechanics and/or Facilities Workers.
