POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Manager of Programs & Development serve as the Marketing & Communications Specialist for the Center for 17th- & 18th-Century Studies and the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library.  The Specialist will be a key player in promoting the Center and Clark's research, programs, and events. The Specialist will be responsible for creating publicity campaigns for academic and public programming and events; creating content and distributing the Quarterly newsletter; advertising Clark fellowships; designing and producing publicity flyers and programs; maintaining content for the Center and Clark's website; and managing the Center and Clark's social media. In collaboration with the Director, Assistant Director, Head Librarian, and Manager of Programs and Development, the Specialist will contribute to the development of a strategic communications plan and calendar of communications for external and internal audiences that highlights Center and Clark programs, research, and achievements. The Specialist will collaborate with staff, librarians, faculty, fellows, and students to raise awareness of the Center and Clark through digital content creation, visual assets, and social media content. Specialist will ensure that all communications are in line with UCLA brand guidelines, reflecting a professional level of quality and conveying the Center and Clark's brand and visual identity. They will track and report annually on the reach and impact of online and social media outreach, and on other communications campaigns. In consultation with the Department Technology Analyst, coordinate the audio-visual needs for in-person and livestreamed conferences and lectures as well as help to support online programming.  Position is divided between two locations, Royce Hall on the UCLA campus and the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library, located off-campus in the West Adams district of Los Angeles. Ability and willingness to work weekends and evenings as required by academic and public program schedules.

A1. Coordinate strategic communications plan in consultation with Director, Head Librarian, Assistant Director, and Manager of Programs & Development

-Establish production calendar for email marketing campaigns, specifying copy and visual asset deadlines and distribution schedule

- Establish production calendar for social media marketing campaigns, specifying copy and visual asset deadlines and distribution schedule

- Cultivate and manage external content distribution partnerships

- Create and distribute program and event announcements through various internal and external distribution channels including email marketing and social media channels

-Strategize to improve communication and publicity for the Center & Clark Library

- Edit and maintain databases for marketing campaigns and event registration.

A2. Coordinate marketing campaigns for Center & Clark Library fellowship program

-Research appropriate entities to advertise Center & Clark Library fellowship programs

-Obtain advertising schedules, deadlines, copy limits and cost

-Post fellowship opportunities to UCLA websites, outside organizations and social media

A3. Coordinate the Center’s newsletter, the Quarterly

- Establish production calendar for the Quarterly, specifying copy and visual asset deadlines and distribution schedule

- Create content for newsletter in consultation with the Director, Assistant Director, and Head Librarian

A4. Coordinate content for the Center and Clark websites, in collaboration with HumTech

-Maintain and update visual and textual content for the Center and Clark website to effectively promote programs, events, and outreach

-Manage website content for all event listings, to include conferences, lectures, and chamber music concerts

-Create and manage online fellowship application systems

-Manage fellowship website page content, updating annually in conjunction with Academic & Staff Personnel Manager

-Create web forms for managing funding requests from faculty and students

-In collaboration with HumTech, manage design of new websites

B1. Design, create, and produce branded publicity materials to promote the Center and Clark, and their programs and activities in marketing and social media campaigns, in consultation with the Assistant Director and Manager of Programs & Development

-Design and produce publicity flyers and programs for Center & Clark Library programs

- Organize and manage online image libraries for use in marketing, including images from the Clark Library's collections

-Prepare layout & design of newsletter

- Create effective and consistent branding across publicity materials

-Create branded content for program promotion

-Coordinate production of program and Clark Library permanent and temporary signage
