POSITION SUMMARY

UCLA School of Law Clinical Program is hiring a Client Coordinator & Legal Support Assistant for two of its off-campus clinics: the Immigrant Family Legal Clinic and the Housing Justice Clinic. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position for a bilingual (Spanish-English) individual with strong people skills and administrative experience. It is based at the two off-campus community-based clinics: at Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools, 701 S. Catalina St., Los Angeles, CA, and at the Trust Building, 433 S. Spring St., Los Angeles, CA, or another location TBD in Downtown Los Angeles. The position will focus particularly on legal support for students and families in LAUSD schools.

The Client Coordinator provides high-level legal and administrative support to the Faculty directors, staff attorneys, students, and clients of the Immigrant Family Legal Clinic and Housing Justice Clinic at UCLA School of Law. This role is responsible for client intake, case management, program administration, communications, and outreach, ensuring smooth operations and effective service delivery across both clinics. The position will be responsible for a wide range of a wide range of analytical and administrative tasks and focus particularly on developing the clinics' partnerships with downtown LAUSD schools, providing legal support and assistance with outreach and limited legal services in the school setting. The position may also supervise undergraduate student interns and student workers. The position requires autonomy, initiative, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations in a dynamic, community-based legal environment.

This is a full-time in-person position, with the expectation that the Client Coordinator will split their time between the two offices. It may also involve occasional work at the UCLA Law School campus.

Department Summary

The UCLA Immigrant Family Legal Clinic (“ImmFam”) is a unique partnership between the UCLA School of Law and the Los Angeles Unified School District. Located on the campus of the Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools in Koreatown/Pico Union, the clinic serves immigrant students at the six public schools on the campus, as well as their family members. ImmFam provides individual representation in cases involving humanitarian visas, asylum, and removal defense. It also offers legal consultations involving a wider range of legal topics, including workers’ rights, housing, public benefits, and criminal justice. In addition, ImmFam organizes programming and enrichment opportunities related to social justice and legal rights for teachers, students, and families in the RFK community.

The law school recently launched the Housing Justice Clinic (“HJC”) to help address the ongoing housing crisis in greater Los Angeles and to train students to become skilled, thoughtful litigators and public interest attorneys. The HJC—which will begin taking students in spring 2026—will be based on a community-lawyering model and work closely with tenant unions and community organizations to protect vulnerable individuals and communities from displacement. The clinic will provide representation to tenants in eviction defense cases and employ other strategies—including affirmative litigation and legislative advocacy—to defend tenants’ rights and further the efforts of our community partners. The clinic’s clients will predominantly be people with lower incomes, people of color, recent immigrants, and/or individuals who speak languages other than English. One initial community partnership HJC will develop is with one or more LAUSD schools in downtown LA.
