POSITION SUMMARY

The Culture and Race Ethnicity (CARE) in Youth Mental Health Lab is hiring a full-time research assistant to assist in the conduct of community-based intervention/implementation trials focused on advancing youth mental health equity. Under the direct supervision of Dr. Anna Lau, the research assistant will work on studies funded by the National Institute of Mental Health.

 

Project STRIVE

Project STRIVE (STudents RIsing aboVE) is an R37-funded mechanistic prevention trial that will examine the causal role of emotion regulation strategies in driving health disparities among racial/ethnic minority youth. We will test a whether a tailored mindfulness intervention can interrupt the links between the striving persistent behavioral style and disparate health outcomes among high-achieving racial/ethnic minority students.

 


Department Summary

The UCLA Department of Psychology is an exceptional department known for its excellence in research, teaching, and service. With a distinguished faculty comprising more than 60 ladder rank members, it is one of the nation's top psychology departments. Its undergraduate program is the largest within the Division of Life Sciences and the UCLA College, with more than 4,700 undergraduate students enrolled across three majors: Psychology, Psychobiology, and Cognitive Science. The department also offers a comprehensive Ph.D. program with eight areas of study to approximately 200 enrolled graduate students.

A1: Assist with participant maintenance including recruitment, scheduling and tracking of all participant groups. (E)

A3: Assist with data collection (online survey, phone interviews, school-based health assessments, videoconference interviews for new supplement study) with study participants. (E)

B1: Assist graduate students and postdocs in facilitating program delivery at community schools. (E)

C1: Assist in maintaining and updating laboratory calendar and schedule. (E)
