POSITION SUMMARY | UCLA Humanities Technology (HumTech) provides information and technology services to the UCLA College, Humanities Division. As part of the Digital Services Group, the Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing enterprise infrastructure systems that meet the unique and varied requirements of our academic community. This role manages heterogeneous environments spanning Linux and Windows servers, cloud platforms, and on-premises systems that directly impact the day-to-day computing environment for faculty, staff, and students. The ideal candidate excels at automation, disaster planning, security monitoring, and identity management across hybrid enterprise infrastructure. The position is hybrid remote with a minimum of two days a week on campus. | | | |

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions | Function | Responsibilities | % Time | Systems engineering | Support capacity planning and long-term strategic goals for compute and storage systems across departments. (E) Analyze and troubleshoot complex system problems using diagnostic tools and outside consulting. (E) Assist in resolving system problems for faculty and staff. Modify or implement systems as required. (E) Respond to monitoring alerts and events per departmental and University procedures. (E) Recommend and perform system improvements, upgrades, patches, and reconfigurations. (E) Maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans. (E) Manage enterprise VPN, DNS, and DHCP services across hybrid environments. (E) Develop and test disaster recovery and backup procedures for virtual and physical environments. (E) Maintain firewall rules and network access controls. Verify integrity by restoring and verifying data. (E) Monitor and automate cloud hosting operations. Track usage and spend. (E) Deploy and maintain enterprise servers across Linux and Windows using automation tools (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell, or similar). (E) Design virtual networking including VPCs, route tables, and security groups across cloud providers. (E) Manage cloud and on-premises services including web platforms, CDN, WAF, and load balancers. Administer enterprise platforms including proprietary and closed systems. (E) Provision and manage SSL certificates and domain names across hybrid environments. Manage access controls and integrations across hybrid environments. (E) Configure SSO and MFA integrations (e.g., Shibboleth, DUO, or similar).
