POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Human Resources, the HR Generalist provides administrative, project, and analytical support for HR processes and functions within the Arthur Ashe Student Health & Wellness Center, and Student Affairs as needed. The HR Generalist will perform a variety of HR functions, including but not limited to working with HR leads to process transactions, assist departments with recruitment efforts, onboard employees, develop and maintain job descriptions, provide general guidance on personnel policies and procedures, facilitate general benefits communication, offboard employees, maintain employment records and consult with Campus Human Resources (CHR) for exceptions, special approvals or as needed.The HR Generalist works effectively under pressure and with constantly changing deadlines and priorities to support all aspects of human resources in a unionized healthcare setting.The Arthur Ashe Center is comprised of employees represented by various unions (EX, NX, CX, HX, DX, TX, SV, RP, etc.) and policy-covered employees in various different employment classifications including: career, partial year career, contract, limited, per diem, casual-restricted, and contingent workers (i.e. interns and volunteers).

Human Resources Administration

ʉۢ Review and implement HR policies, contracts, procedures, and best practices for addressing human resource matters.

ʉۢ Offer guidance to supervisors on various HR issues such as salary analysis, training, payroll, benefits, onboarding, and routine employee relations issues.

ʉۢ Collaborate with HR leadership to identify problems, propose solutions, and refer employees to specialized services when necessary.

ʉۢ Support onboarding and offboarding, including background checks, orientation, system transactions, exit interviews, and required notices.

ʉۢ Review HR processes, recommend improvements, analyze data, prepare reports, and maintain personnel files.

ʉۢ Coordinate clinical credentialing and privileging for clinical staff and monitor TB clearance, required training, and professional licensure and certification requirements.

Employment/Personnel Management

ʉۢ Provide administrative and analytical aid for personnel actions, including assessing proposed actions, preparing reports, and ensuring adherence to campus policies.

ʉۢ Offer guidance to supervisors on completing and submitting employment forms, overseeing approvals and tracking.

ʉۢ Generate, review, and distribute accurate employment documents promptly.

ʉۢ Coordinate mass hire payroll processing for student staff, managing onboarding paperwork and conducting hiring presentations.

ʉۢ Input employment data into the department's database and reconcile with campus systems regularly.

ʉۢ Review incoming compensation requests for completeness, collecting missing information.

ʉۢ Process personnel and compensation actions promptly in the university system.

ʉۢ Act as a liaison with Central HR to resolve issues as needed.

Payroll Processing and Timekeeping

ʉۢ Oversee monthly and biweekly payroll processing and timekeeping, including leave accruals, prior-period adjustments, incentive awards, and other payroll transactions.

ʉۢ Enter and review payroll data in UCTRS and UCPath accurately and by established deadlines, in accordance with University policies and collective bargaining agreements.

ʉۢ Reconcile employee timesheets and identify, investigate, and resolve pay and timekeeping discrepancies.

ʉۢ Serve as the primary processor of personnel and payroll transactions in UCPath.

ʉۢ Serve as departmental liaison for work-study processing; submit required paperwork, maintain data, monitor fund utilization, and communicate funding balances to supervisors.

Benefits and Leave Administration

ʉۢ Guide employees on health, welfare, and retirement benefit programs, including eligibility, enrollment, and available plan options.

ʉۢ Advise employees and supervisors on FMLA and University leave policies; assess eligibility; prepare and distribute required notices, certifications, and designation documents; and maintain accurate records.

ʉۢ Provide leave training and assist with return-to-work agreements and the interactive process as needed.

ʉۢ Support occupational health referrals and workers' compensation procedures, paperwork, and claim records.

ʉۢ Communicate University benefits updates, including open enrollment, plan changes, and seasonal issues.

ʉۢ Research, compile, analyze, and distribute HR reports, forms, and materials for employees, managers, supervisors, and directors.

ʉۢ Support the HRBP and HR leads with HR and organization-wide projects, events, workshops, and meetings.

ʉۢ Draft, edit, and format HR correspondence and reports and respond to routine and non-routine inquiries.

ʉۢ Prepare responses to routine and non-routine inquiries and draft confidential correspondence, memoranda, and reports.

ʉۢ Help update departmental HR information, including procedures, manuals, organizational charts, directories, and intranet content.

ʉۢ Serve on hiring and other committees as needed and maintain organizational charts, directories, and HR reference materials.
