POSITION SUMMARY | Under the direction of the Department Manager and the Supervisor the incumbent performs a wide range of skilled and semi-skilled duties designed to maintain and preserve the health and beauty of the landscape and hard-scape for all properties managed by the UCLA Housing & Hospitality Services. Performs routine care of cultivated and surfaced areas to include but not limited to mowing, edging, fertilizing, aerate, renovating and installing lawns. | | | |
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions | Function | Responsibilities | % Time | OPERATIONS | Perform daily maintenance and inspection of trees, plants, lawn and hard-scape. Irrigate, prune, fertilize, mow, edge, trim and cultivate, using various power and hand tools. Identify plant pests and diseases and report to supervisor. Maintain all areas adjacent to landscaped areas by sweeping and hosing off debris, emptying trash containers, etc. | 85% | GENERAL TASKS | Operate and maintain a variety of power and/or hand tools, vehicles and equipment related to job function. Transport materials, equipment and personnel to and from job site expeditiously. Follow established safety procedures at all times including inspecting vehicles, tools and equipment for signs of damage, malfunction or deterioration on a regular basis. Report all problems to supervisor. Upon completion of work, clean up job site and return and secure equipment materials, tools and radios to designated storage areas. Respond to off-hour emergencies and overtime and special events as required. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as requested by supervisor. Assist with determining quantities and type of materials and tools needed to complete assignments. | 10% | ADMINISTRATIVE | Prepare, maintain and process all forms and paperwork in accordance with departmental guidelines, including work orders, follow-up work orders, parts requests, equipment logs, vehicle logs and attendance and time keeping sheets.
