POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Grounds Supervisor, the Grounds Equipment Operator is responsible for the daily cleanliness and upkeep of the hard surfaces on the exterior areas of Housing & Hospitality facilities (approximately 20 acres of building and exterior space). Approximately 70% of the Grounds Equipment Operator time will be spent performing cleaning duties requiring the use of drivable cleaning equipment such as mid-size street sweeper, hard surface scrubbers, fork-lifts and high pressure washers. The remaining 30% of their work time will be spent in performing various cleaning duties in public areas including practicing customer service, sweeping, mopping, collecting and disposing of trash. The Grounds Equipment Operator is responsible for securing outside entry doors and reporting suspicious individuals or circumstances to campus police or to immediate supervisor. The Grounds Equipment Operator must carry a valid California Drivers' License to operate equipment and will be responsible for the routine maintenance of each piece, including ensuring fuel and fluid levels.

MAINTAIN APPEARANCE OF EXTERIOR SURFACES

Clean and maintain the appearance of exterior surfaces within on campus Housing facilities including: outside steps, terraces, patios, trash rooms, plazas, sidewalks, circle drives, loading docks, outdoor seating areas and other areas as directed, by use of equipment provided by the University which will include forklifts , electric and gas powered carts, mid size pick up trucks, pressure washer, ride on street sweeper, gas or electric blower, hard surface ride on scrubber, buffers, waxers and other types of floor care equipment. Clean exterior building finishes such as glass panels and windows, exterior mail box finishes, tile, wood, brass etc. as necessary. Polish and wax furniture, fixtures and other types of decorative materials in exterior areas. Collect, remove and dispose trash from

MAINTAIN APPEARANCE OF INTERNAL PUBLIC AREAS

Clean stairways, hallways, corridors, elevators, public restrooms and other areas as directed. Clean and deodorize public areas, including all fixtures, toilets, floors, tile and trash dispensers. Replenish paper and other supplies as needed.Clean mirrors, showcases, glass panels and windows as necessary.Polish and wax furniture, fixtures and other types of decorative materials in public areas.Vacuum carpet in lobbies, and public areas as needed.Set up, arrange and dismantle desks, chairs, sofas, table and other types of equipment as directed.Maintain par stock levels of custodial supplies utilized by the exterior housekeeping crew, including, cleaning disinfecting chemicals, trash dispenser liners, gasoline/diesel (to power equipment) and paper goods.Control usage of exterior custodial supplies by ensuring adherence to established usage parameters.Distribute, collect, store and assist with inventory of exterior custodial chemical supplies. Report damages and missing University property to Housekeeping Supervisor/Building Manager.

Provide clients, residents and University staff with assistance and/or information as directed by your supervisor. Relay concerns, questions or comments from clients/residents to supervisor and member of other departments.Maintain positive contact with Residence Hall Staff, including peers, supervisors and members of other departments.
