POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Development, the Senior Director of Development (Sr. DoD) serves as a key member of UCLA Anderson's development team and directly supervises professional staff responsible for implementing and administering assigned fundraising programs. Leading the school's Major Giving team, the Sr. DoD designs and develops fundraising objectives and, through subordinate professional staff, implements and evaluates activities supporting established unit goals. The position selects, trains, directs, evaluates and motivates staff; coordinates work assignments and project priorities; and ensures accountability for assigned operational, financial and human resources. In partnership with the Executive Director of Development and the Senior Associate Dean of External Affairs, the Sr. DoD develops and executes short- and long-term fundraising strategies within established priorities to support the school's vision and strategic plan. The position participates in strategic planning, administers approved budget allocations and guides the preparation of fundraising materials, proposals and presentations. Applying full knowledge of the assigned fundraising area, the Sr. DoD interprets established policies and exercises judgment within defined procedures to resolve operational issues and recommend program improvements.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across UCLA Anderson, UCLA External Affair and campus-wide as well as other internal/external constituents, the Sr. DoD coordinates fundraising efforts and supports staff in achieving established goals. With an emphasis on major gifts of $250,000 or more and endowment gifts of $350,000 or more, the position builds and maintains an assigned portfolio of donors and prospect and engages regularly with donors and volunteers to strengthen the school's major giving pipeline. This role offers an outstanding opportunity to apply leadership, communication and relationship-building skills to secure philanthropic support for academic programs, accomplished faculty and students from diverse backgrounds. As part of a school recognized for innovation in management education and research, the Sr. DoD advances UCLA Anderson's mission to develop transformative leaders who combine innovative problem-solving, technological and analytical fluency, and the interpersonal skills to inspire positive change. In addition, to establishing overall fundraising priorities for the Major Giving team, the Sr. DoD also oversees budget allocations, and serves as a delegated authority of the Executive Director and Senior Associate Dean as appropriate. This individual determines staff assignments and implementation methods within those parameters, consulting with the Executive Director  on policy exceptions, additional resource needs and changes in program scope. In addition, the Sr. DoD serves as an advisor to the unit and administration on matters within the assigned area.
