POSITION SUMMARY | As the Assistant Dean, External Relations for UCLA Extension (UNEX), you will serve as a guiding force in providing the leadership, guidance and inspiration to our external relations staff. As one of the nation's oldest, largest and most comprehensive continuing and professional studies providers, UNEX gives you a wide range of options to expand career opportunities, switch careers, or achieve personal growth. Working collaboratively with the Assistant Vice Chancellor, Dean and UNEX academic and administrative leadership, you will determine market feasibility for academic priorities and provide advice and counsel. You will design and implement a strategic plan for external relations that represents the Dean's priorities and will prepare for and participate in major gift solicitations. As the Assistant Dean, you will also meet with faculty in priority areas and gain knowledge of research interests and areas of expertise as well as serve as a staff resource to the UNEX Dean and represent UNEX to the broader community. Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions | Function | Responsibilities | % Time | Fundraising and Stewardship | Implement a plan to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gift prospects/ donors. Identify new donors for support through volunteer/donor meetings; establish/maintain high-level volunteer structure for linkage to programs, solicitation assistance and other program needs. Develop/implement collaborative strategies/timetables for successful fundraising/stewardship of those at all levels, mainly $100K+. Develop/manage portfolio of high-level prospects; maintain active awareness of all prospects at all stages of donor cycle. Devise/execute long/short-term strategies/timetables for successful major gift solicitations. Organize volunteers to sponsor/assist with cultivation activities; directly support prospect solicitations of volunteers/academic leaders. | 20% | Fundraising and Stewardship | Develop/manage long-range, comprehensive cultivation strategies/timetables for prospect engagement and support as donors. Develop giving opportunities/case statements. Devise/implement a stewardship program to assure regular contact with donors. Provide vehicles for continued donor awareness to encourage continued giving. Meet or exceed department standards for contacts, visits, solicitations and dollars raised.
