UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital, in partnership with the Department of Pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine, is a nationally recognized leader in children's health. Together, they provide comprehensive, family-centered care for infants, children, and adolescents across a full spectrum of pediatric specialties and subspecialties. The Department of Pediatrics drives the hospital's academic mission, advancing groundbreaking research, innovative treatments, and nationally regarded training programs that shape the next generation of pediatric clinicians and scientists. Serving as our Director of Development, Children's Health you will work with the hospital initiatives management to plan and implement strong, proactive major gift program that reflect the priorities of the Department of Pediatrics leadership. You will develop and maintain a portfolio of individual major gift prospects. In this role, you will work closely with health sciences leadership, staff and your colleagues on the UCLA health sciences development team to gain knowledge of programs, areas of expertise and space needs, determine market feasibility for priorities and provide leadership, assistance, advice and counsel on fundraising strategies and initiatives. Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions | Function | Responsibilities | % Time | Major Gift Fundraising and Stewardship | 1. Implement a plan to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gift prospects/donors. 2. Identify new donors for support via volunteer/donor meetings; establish/maintain high-level volunteer structure for linkage to programs, solicitation assistance and other program needs. 3. Develop/implement collaborative strategies/timetables for successful fundraising/stewardship for major gift prospects/donors at $50K and above. 4. Develop/manage portfolio of high-level prospects; maintain active awareness of all prospects at all stages of donor cycle. 5. Devise/execute long/short-term strategies/timetables for successful major gift solicitations. 6. Organize volunteers to sponsor/assist with cultivation activities; directly support prospect solicitations of volunteers/academic leaders. | 60% | | 7. Develop/manage long-range, comprehensive cultivation strategies/timetables for prospect engagement and support as donors. 8. Develop giving opportunities/case statements/fundraising materials. 9. Coordinate strategies for continuous stewardship to ensure regular contact with donors. 10. Provide vehicles for continued donor awareness to encourage continued giving including strategic events. 11. Maintain appropriate donor/prospect records; manage follow up reports and contact with donors on gift usage. 12.
