As an Assistant Director of Annual Giving, you will coordinate all aspects of solicitations throughout the year to targeted outreach groups, creating timely and inspirational campaign and donor communications. Working in partnership with other development leadership and colleagues, you will also support annual giving stewardship efforts which includes developing and executing monthly, specialized acknowledgments, creating annual giving impact reports, and other annual gift level donor stewardship pieces. As an Assistant Director, you will work collaboratively with unit annual giving leads and central leadership on efforts related to annual giving including but not limited to our fall and spring campus-wide giving days efforts and other program initiatives. In addition, you may work on special writing assignments, donor relations projects, and creating unique print and digital materials. Annual Giving and Development Communications

1. Collaborate on campus-wide annual giving strategy with Sr. Director,  Annual Giving, Sr. Executive Director, Annual & Individual Giving and Director, Digital Philanthropy.

 

2. Participate in developing solicitation concepts and design.

 

3. Collaborate closely with internal and external partners on developing both print and digital materials when necessary. (External – vendors like mailing houses, mail doc services and Internal – faculty, program directors, etc.)

 

4. Work closely with the Sr. Director, Annual Giving and Sr. Executive Director to identify unassigned pools for individualized, calendar and fiscal year-end outreach.

 

5. Assist in the sourcing of stories and creation of online content for social media to inspire giving and showcase the impact of philanthropy.

6. Build, test, and deploy email communications as required – with special emphasis on discretionary fund efforts and specialized targeted appeals such as those for key growth areas such as monthly giving, employee giving, student giving, etc.

 

7. Participate in quality control review for all direct mail and email solicitations.

 

8. In partnership with the Central Annual Giving team and Chancellor’s Society, develop and lead targeted upgrade appeals to annual giving prospects primed for a leadership annual giving ask.

 

9. Provide coverage/assist in other departments with annual giving activities as directed by the Sr. Director during staff shortages to ensure smooth operations; create/assist with yearly calling campaigns as appropriate.

Stewardship

1. Manage the creation and implementation of a stewardship plan for donors who support UCLA’s campus-wide discretionary funds.

 

2. Manage the implementation of personalized stewardship outreach to unique segments of annual giving donors – such as monthly recurring supporters or giving day donors.

 

3. Manage calendar year-end thank you correspondence and  production of fiscal year-end annual giving impact report to donors who support UCLA’s campus-wide discretionary funds.

4. Assist in various stewardship activities for annual giving donors throughout the year, such as: special digital acknowledgments following specific appeals and campaigns, phone calls to steward gifts and renewals of $100 to $1000 or other amounts as appropriate, other special projects, etc.

 

5. Through stewardship efforts and other giving behaviors, identify annual giving prospects to hand off to Chancellor’s Society gift officers to build the leadership annual giving pipeline.

Minimum of two years’ demonstrated experience working in a fundraising environment and/or prior professional experience in a related field such as sales, marketing or business development.
