As an Assistant Director, you will coordinate and support all aspects of direct mail solicitations and email appeals, creating timely and inspiring campaign and donor communications campus-wide as well as digital philanthropy efforts including crowdfunding initiatives, Giving Days, and other digital campaigns requiring project management, platform coordination, and email production. Working in partnership with other development leadership and colleagues, you will also support annual giving digital campaign stewardship efforts which includes developing and executing specialized acknowledgments, creating annual giving impact reports, and other annual gift donor stewardship pieces through video. As an Assistant Director, you will work collaboratively with division and central leadership on efforts related to annual giving and digital philanthropy including branding materials and digital communications. In addition, you may work on special writing assignments, donor relations projects, and creating unique digital materials as they relate to digital philanthropy. Annual Giving/Digital Campaigns and Communications

1. Collaborate on campus-wide annual giving strategy under the leadership of the Director of Digital Philanthropy and in partnership with Sr. Director, Annual Giving; create/manage yearly calling campaigns as appropriate.

 

2. Develop solicitation concepts/designs, draft copy, identify audience segments and build, test and deploy communications for annual giving mailings and emails, direct mail appeals, email appeals and digital campaigns throughout the year.

 

3. Manage, consult and provide hands-on guidance and support to faculty, students, staff, and development partners launching fundraising/crowdfunding campaigns.

4. Collaborate closely with internal and external partners on developing digital materials when necessary. (External –  digital vendors, platform providers and Internal – faculty, program directors, etc.)

 

5. Ensure crowdfunding projects align with UCLA branding, messaging, compliance, and technical requirements; advise project owners on timelines, copy development, campaign strategy, and stewardship planning.

 

6. Cultivate and manage a robust crowdfunding environment by building and maintaining vital support systems such as toolkits, trackers, trainings and promotional opportunities.  

 

7. Collaboratively create digital campaigns and online content to elaborate on school/division-wide messaging, inspire giving and showcase the impact of philanthropy.

8. Collaborate on complementary digital marketing efforts including social media content, impact storytelling, video coordination, and thematic giving hubs as necessary.

 

9. Develop specialized appeals and upgrades for leadership giving as appropriate.

Stewardship

1. Manage calendar year-end thank you correspondence and the production of the fiscal year-end annual giving impact report to digital campaign donors.

 

2. Support stewardship of crowdfunding and Giving Day donors by coordinating timely acknowledgments, campaign updates, impact communications, and project completion reporting.

 

3. Assist with annual giving stewardship events and other annual giving stewardship activities as necessary.

 

4. Assist in various stewardship activities for annual giving donors throughout the year, including but not limited to: special digital acknowledgments following specific appeals and campaigns, phone calls to steward gifts and renewals of $100 to $1000 or other amounts as appropriate, other special projects.

Data Reporting & Management

1. Execute data analysis and strategic reporting on performance of crowdfunding, Giving Day, and digital campaigns including donor counts, revenue, engagement metrics, and platform analytics.

 

2. Coordinate and maintain annual giving reports and provide weekly updates on solicitation analysis for digital campaigns.

 

3. Coordinate all data requests and use project management tools to track deadlines, responsibilities, and deliverables.

 

4. Serve as point person for data related to digital campaigns, email communications and progress reports.

1. Maintain clear and accurate email records, online campaign records, and samples of all outreach.

 

2. Ensure solicitation costs and results are tracked regularly, updating unit annual giving progress reports weekly.

 

3. Drive alignment of Digital Philanthropy planning, meeting, and documentation as needed.

Minimum of two years demonstrated experience working in a fundraising environment and/or prior professional experience in a related field such as sales, marketing or business development.

Experience with a Blackbaud CRM system or equivalent database and the use of databases to generate reports.

Prior experience in developing, managing and leveraging digital media and marketing strategies
